Summer jazz in the villages of Val Trebbia, from Piazza Trento to Pietra Perduca
Summertime in Jazz is the summer festival organized by the Piacenza Jazz Club Cultural Association, which every year between June and August brings great jazz music out of concert halls and into the most beautiful villages of the province of Piacenza. In 2026, the festival reaches its 13th edition, with a widespread calendar that touches dozens of locations in the Apennines and the Piacenza plain: from Castell'Arquato to Vigoleno, from Rivergaro to Bobbio, up to the village of Travo, in Emilia-Romagna.
Travo, an ancient village in Val Trebbia in the province of Piacenza, is one of the most evocative stops on the festival. Here, Summertime in Jazz offers two free evenings in places of strong symbolic and landscape value:
The idea behind Summertime in Jazz is simple and successful: to combine quality jazz music with the discovery of the villages, churches, castles, and landscapes of the province of Piacenza. The concerts in Travo are organized by the Piacenza Jazz Club in collaboration with the Municipality of Travo and the Amici della Perduca Association, and are part of a summer rich in events in the village, from the Festa della Perduca to literary evenings.
The format is that of a widespread festival: a different village each evening, each concert an opportunity to discover a corner of Val Trebbia or the Nure and Arda valleys. Most concerts are free admission, while some special events in the Jazz Summerwine food and wine section are held in wineries with a ticket.
In addition to the music, Travo is worth a visit for its Neolithic archaeological park, the medieval historic center with the Anguissola castle, and its proximity to the Perino waterfalls and the trails of Val Trebbia. The Summertime in Jazz concert is the perfect opportunity to combine a day in nature with an evening of good music.
The two concerts in Travo are part of the 13th edition of Summertime in Jazz 2026, the summer festival of the Piacenza Jazz Club that brings jazz to the villages of the province of Piacenza from June to August. In Travo, in Val Trebbia, the events are free admission and take place in two symbolic locations of the area: the Pietra Perduca rock and the central Piazza Trento.
The concerts in Travo are part of the broader calendar of Summertime in Jazz 2026, which also includes Cortemaggiore, Morfasso, Castell'Arquato, Rivalta, Vernasca, Rivergaro, Lugagnano, and Bobbio, as well as the food and wine events of the Jazz Summerwine section in wineries and vineyards.
Travo is located in Val Trebbia, about 30 km from Piacenza. By car: from Piacenza, take the SS45 towards Bobbio/Genoa, then the detour for Travo. Pietra Perduca can be reached from the hamlet of Pigazzano with a short walk. By train: the nearest station is Piacenza, connected to Travo by a local bus.
The concerts of the main festival in Travo (Pietra Perduca and Piazza Trento) are free admission. The events in the Jazz Summerwine section have a ticket price of 8 euros with mandatory booking (tel. 0523 579034 — [email protected]).
For the dawn concert at Pietra Perduca, comfortable clothing and a flashlight are recommended. Bring water and a sweatshirt for the cool mountain evenings. In case of bad weather, check for any changes on the Piacenza Jazz Club channels.
