Summer Jazz San Salvo is the summer festival dedicated to great jazz music that enlivens the evenings in the historic center of San Salvo, a town on the Adriatic coast in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. Promoted by the Municipal Department of Culture, the event has chosen Piazza San Vitale as its natural stage—one of the most charming squares in the area, overlooking the church of the same name and the town's historic buildings.

Although a young festival, Summer Jazz has managed in just a few editions to carve out a prominent role in the Abruzzo music scene, bringing artists of national and international caliber to the Adriatic shore. The administration's stated goal is to grow the festival into an increasingly international event, making it one of the key jazz appointments of the Abruzzo summer.

Quality music and free admission

One of the hallmarks of Summer Jazz is its free admission policy: the concerts are held outdoors, under the stars, during one of the most anticipated evenings of the San Salvo summer calendar. The festival is part of a rich program of events that the Municipality offers every summer, spanning music, theater, literature, and family entertainment.

The artistic level is high: past editions have featured experienced drummers, vocalists, and instrumentalists capable of ranging from classic jazz to fusion, and from soul to swing. The format features evenings concentrated in July, with the square transformed into an open-air auditorium.

Beyond its musical value, Summer Jazz represents an opportunity for cultural and tourist promotion for San Salvo: the festival attracts audiences from neighboring towns along the Trabocchi Coast and the Chieti hinterland, enlivening the center on summer evenings.
