Summer in Prezza is the event program that lights up the summer every year in Prezza, a small town in the province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, perched on a rocky spur that has earned it the nickname "terrace of the Peligna Valley." For over a month, between July and August, the village and the hamlet of Campo di Fano fill with music, shows, traditions, and flavors, offering a rich and varied program designed for all ages.
A lineup of big names and tradition
The event is organized by the Municipality of Prezza together with the "Nicola Di Pietro" Pro Loco, with the support of local associations. The program alternates concerts by nationally renowned artists with dance evenings, tributes to the greats of Italian music, theatrical performances, and events dedicated to children. The main venues are the scenic Piazza Umberto I, in the heart of the medieval old town, the "Nestore di Pillo" Municipal Sports Center, and Campo di Fano, with its Piazza Peppino Impastato.
The Red Garlic Festival and patronal feasts
The highlight of the festival is the Sulmona Red Garlic Festival, a traditional gastronomic event with over thirty years of history, which celebrates one of the most precious local products of the Peligna Valley in Campo di Fano. Alongside the kitchens and food stands, where red garlic is the star among roasted meats, fried pizzas, zampanelle, and bruschetta, there are evening concerts and dance parties. In mid-August, the community gathers for the celebrations in honor of Saint Anthony and Saint Roch, blending faith, tradition, and conviviality, as well as popular re-enactments like the ruzzola competition.
A summer of music and fun
The program ranges from singer-songwriter music to pop, jazz, and evenings with nationally famous DJs, as well as major tributes to the masters of Italian and international music. The evenings in Piazza Umberto I, illuminated and overlooking the valley, offer concerts at sunset with a unique charm, while the sports center spaces host the most popular events. Participation in public square events is generally free, making Summer in Prezza a reference point for summer tourism in the Abruzzo hinterland.

The 2026 edition of Summer in Prezza runs from July 10 to August 21, with one of the richest programs ever organized by the Municipality of Prezza and the "Nicola Di Pietro" Pro Loco. The lineup ranges from singer-songwriter concerts to evenings with nationally famous DJs, from tributes to music greats to food festivals and patronal feasts.
The big names
Highlights include the concert by Silvia Mezzanotte (August 4, Piazza Umberto I), Marco Bocci DJ (August 7, "Nestore di Pillo" Sports Center), the tribute to Frank Sinatra with Muntagninjazz, Gianluca Guidi & Big Fat Band (August 8), the Candlelight Concert (August 13), and the grand finale with DJ Fargetta (August 21, Campo di Fano).
Festivals, theater, and parties
The month opens with the Red Garlic Festival (July 10-11) at Campo di Fano, followed by the "Carne al Fuoco" country evening (July 18), the children's show Thomas and Friends (July 23), the concert by The Sound Society (July 30), and the comedy "Nemici Come Prima" by the Per Caso Theater Company (July 31). How to get there
Prezza can be reached by car via the A25 Rome-Pescara motorway, taking the Pratola Peligna-Sulmona exit and continuing toward the village. The nearest train station is Pratola Peligna-Superiore, just a few kilometers away. The reference airport is Pescara-Abruzzo.
Admission and times
Participation in public square events is free. Evening shows generally start between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, while food stands open at 8:00 PM.
