The summer festival of the Municipality of Statte at the Leucaspide Natural Theatre
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Summer Evenings in the Gravina is the summer program promoted by the Municipality of Statte, in the province of Taranto (Apulia), in collaboration with the Terra delle Gravine Festival directed by Giovanni Tamborrino and the Province of Taranto. The event transforms the summer months into a long journey of appointments that, from late July to September, bring the town to life with concerts, theatre, dance, cinema, and gastronomic festivals.
The heart of the festival is the Leucaspide Natural Theatre, an open-air amphitheatre carved into the striking Leucaspide ravine, amidst rock-hewn settlements, dolmens, and the Mediterranean scrub of the Statte territory. Most evening performances are held in this setting, while other moments move to the historic center, particularly Largo Lepanto, creating a dialogue between the natural landscape and town life.
The program embraces diverse genres for audiences of all ages: from classic Neapolitan songs to singer-songwriter cover concerts, from eclectic musical shows to dialect theatre performed by local amateur companies. There is no shortage of musicals by dance schools, performances by the Statte Band, and evenings dedicated to youth music at the end of summer.
Alongside the performances, the festival hosts the section dedicated to short films, Piccoli Grandi Corti, with cinema evenings in the gravina often focused on environmental themes, and a rich calendar of food festivals and folk celebrations organized by the Pro Loco and local associations, where you can taste typical products such as frisella and traditional Taranto dishes.
All performances of Summer Evenings in the Gravina are free of charge. The festival is designed as an opportunity for social interaction and the enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of Statte, capable of attracting residents and visitors from neighboring towns and showcasing one of the most characteristic corners of the Apulian gravine.
For summer 2026, the Municipality of Statte has initiated procedures to organize a new edition of Summer Evenings in the Gravina, the festival held at the Leucaspide Natural Theatre and in the historic center. At the moment, the dates and the complete program have not yet been published: the schedule, as in previous years, is expected to be spread between late July and September with free concerts, theatre, cinema, and food festivals. This page will be updated as soon as the Municipality releases the official program.
The shows take place mainly at the Leucaspide Natural Theatre, in the Leucaspide ravine in Statte (TA), and in some locations in the historic center such as Largo Lepanto.
Statte is located a few kilometres north of Taranto and can be reached by car via the SS7 and provincial roads. The reference railway station is Taranto, connected to the town by the provincial bus network.
Admission to the shows is free. For the updated program and times, it is recommended to consult the official channels of the Municipality of Statte and the local Pro Loco.
