About Su e Zo per i Ponti

The Su e Zo per i Ponti is Venice's great non-competitive walk: thousands of people — families, schools, groups, and tourists — cross the calli, campi, and bridges of the historic centre together on a route that starts and ends in Piazza San Marco. More than a race, it's a solidarity festival: proceeds support charitable projects in Italy and worldwide. A unique way to experience Venice on foot, away from the most beaten tourist paths, amidst unusual views and the collective joy of an event that has been running for decades.

Walking Venice, Up and Down the Bridges

The Su e Zo per i Ponti di Venezia is a fun, non-competitive walk, open to everyone, which every spring brings thousands of participants to walk through the historic centre of the city. The dialect name — "su e zo", meaning up and down — tells the essence of the event: going up and down the countless bridges that span the canals of Venice.

The Routes

The event offers two routes: the full 11.6 km route with 44 bridges, starting and finishing in Piazza San Marco, and the short 5.7 km route with 24 bridges, designed especially for kindergartens and primary schools. Official refreshment points are set up along the route.

A Solidarity Festival

Organised by TGS Eurogroup, the Su e Zo is not a race but an opportunity for meeting and commitment: the proceeds from the event support charitable projects in Italy and abroad every year. It is one of the most cherished events by the Venetian community and schools in the Veneto region, capable of attracting thousands of walkers.

An Unseen Venice

Walking the city at a slow pace, along itineraries that also touch on corners less frequented by mass tourism, is a special way to discover views, small squares, and bridges that escape the ordinary visit.
