About Venicemarathon

Venicemarathon is the Venice marathon: 42.195 km starting from Villa Pisani in Stra, going up the Riviera del Brenta among the Venetian villas and ending in Piazza San Marco, on the Riva dei Sette Martiri. The route crosses Mira and the hamlet of Oriago, where thousands of residents and fans lean out along the banks to cheer on the almost ten thousand athletes. The 40th edition will be run in 2026, on Sunday, October 25th.

A marathon unique in the world

Venicemarathon is among the most evocative marathons in Italy: 42.195 certified kilometers connecting the mainland to Venice, with the finish line in the historic center. The race starts from Villa Pisani in Stra, along the Riviera del Brenta, and before reaching the lagoon it crosses several riverside municipalities, including Mira (province of Venice) and its hamlet of Oriago.

The passage through Mira

For the Municipality of Mira, Venicemarathon is a morning of celebration: the route runs along the Naviglio Brenta on the town's roads, between Venetian villas and inhabited centers, around the tenth kilometer of the race. The residents of Mira and Oriago lean out along the banks to support the over ten thousand athletes from all over the world.

Towards San Marco

After the Riviera del Brenta, the course enters Marghera and Mestre, runs along Parco San Giuliano and crosses the Ponte della Libertà, almost 4 km long, before reaching the historic Venetian center: the Giudecca Canal, a floating bridge over the Grand Canal, Piazza San Marco and the 14 bridges of the finale up to Riva dei Sette Martiri. 8 refreshment areas are planned along the route, at km 5, 10, 15, 21, 25, 30, 35, and 40.
