About Veleziana
The great sailing week in Venice
The Veleziana Sailing Week is the event that celebrates sailing in Venice every autumn, based at the Arsenale and in the waters of the lagoon and St. Mark's Basin. Organized by the Compagnia della Vela together with Vento di Venezia, Diporto Velico Veneziano, and other clubs, it brings together regattas, side events, and initiatives open to the city over nine days.
The Veleziana
The highlight is the Veleziana, the regatta that starts offshore in front of the Lido and spectacularly finishes inside St. Mark's Basin: hundreds of boats with sails unfurled against the backdrop of the Doge's Palace and the Salute church, one of the most evocative images of Italian sailing.
A program for all sails
The week offers competitions for every class—from the Optimist for the youngest to maxi yachts—match races, sprint regattas, inclusive sailing (Veleziana Hansa) for sailors with and without disabilities, as well as initiatives that combine sailing, voga alla veneta, schools, artisans, and merchants in the historic center.

The Veleziana is not just sport: it is an event that reaffirms the deep bond between Venice, the Veneto region, and the sea, bringing sails back to the heart of the city and involving the lagoon community.
Veleziana — edition 2026
The 2026 Veleziana Sailing Week takes place from October 10th to 18th, based at the Arsenale and in the lagoon waters. The week culminates on Sunday, October 18th, with the 19th Veleziana, organized by Compagnia della Vela, Vento di Venezia, and Diporto Velico Veneziano, with a start in open water off the Lido and an arrival in St. Mark's Basin.
The program alternates competitions for different classes, match races, onboard gastronomic events, and inclusive initiatives, with strong involvement from the Venetian community.
Programme Veleziana 2026
October 10-18, 2026 — Arsenale, lagoon, and St. Mark's Basin
- October 10-11 — Veleziana Opti, dedicated to the Optimist class
- October 15-16 — Maxi on Cooking Star, a regatta combining sailing and cooking with star and emerging chefs
- October 16 — Certosa Match Race, a challenge between super maxi boats (Prosecco DOC Shockwave3 and Marta 07)
- October 16-18 — Veleziana Dinghy, with wooden Dinghy 12' boats
- Veleziana Hansa / Veleziana Inclusiva — accessible sailing for sailors with and without disabilities
- Sunday, October 18th — 19th Veleziana: start in open water off the Lido, finish in St. Mark's Basin
Sprint regattas of voga alla veneta and initiatives with schools, artisans, and historic center merchants are also scheduled.

How to get there
The Arsenale can be reached by ACTV vaporetto (Arsenale stop). The Lido, the starting point of the regatta, is connected to the historic center by ACTV ferry lines.
