The queen of flowers in the village of Fara in Sabina
Strolling Among the Roses is the floral and artisanal event that every year, at the beginning of June, brings the historic center of Fara in Sabina to lifeโone of the most charming villages in the province of Rieti, in the Lazio region. Organized by the Pro Loco Fara in Sabina APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Fara in Sabina and the Province of Rieti, the festival dedicates an entire weekend to the "queen of flowers," transforming alleys, small squares, and scenic viewpoints into a path of colors and scents.
The absolute stars are the nurseries, which bring antique and modern roses, ornamental plants, and aromatic essences to Fara. Along Viale Roma and in the heart of the village, specialized floral exhibitors, creative craft markets, and artists and artisans at work are set up. There is also space dedicated to the local food and wine, with stands from farms and typical products of the Sabina region, a land famous for its extra virgin olive oil.
The event is not just a flower market: it is a blend of culture, nature, and social participation. The program offers creative workshops, cultural meetings, guided walks, and botanical demonstrations, from essential oil distillation to sensory paths, from photography workshops for children to conferences on the symbolic value of flowers. Ample space is reserved for children and families, with recreational activities and reading sessions curated by the Municipal Library.
The days come alive with live musical performances, choirs, folk groups, dances, and itinerant shows that accompany visitors through the alleys. Cooking shows, book presentations, parades, and entertainment moments set the rhythm for an event designed for all ages, capable of combining the promotion of greenery with a taste for conviviality.
Perched among the olive groves of the Rieti Sabina, Fara in Sabina houses the Abbey of Farfa, one of the most important monastic complexes in Europe, and a medieval historic center rich in picturesque views. Strolling Among the Roses is the ideal opportunity to combine the discovery of the village with a passion for gardening, in an authentic setting of inland Lazio. Admission is free, and the event runs from morning until sunset.
The eighth edition of Strolling Among the Roses brought the historic center of Fara in Sabina to life on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM until sunset, with free admission. Organized by the Pro Loco Fara in Sabina APS, the festival transformed Viale Roma and the village into an open-air garden filled with nurseries, antique and modern roses, aromatic essences, creative crafts, and typical local products.
In the morning, creative workshops, cultural meetings, and activities for children: "The Time of Transformation" dedicated to essential oil distillation, an artistic hat-making course, a photography workshop for children, and the conference by Master Gianfranco Gentetsu Tiberti "Flowers do not speak. That's why they are so beautiful." In the afternoon, the "Petals of Taste" cooking show by Slow Food Tivoli, "The Enchanted Bestiary Among the Roses," hot air balloon rides, the "Between Care and Culture" walk with Retake Sabina, and the dog parade. In the evening, live music with LWGT, Amoroso Duo, Ianua, the Fun Fara Orchestra, and DJ sets.
The morning opens with the "Mythos" storytelling session on myths and plants, the conference on flowers in Zen tradition, and the sensory path "Between Rose and Memory," in addition to the walk in the historic center with Retake Sabina. In the afternoon, the Gruppo Folk Cittร di Cures, the presentation of the book "Cuore di Gallina" by Marcella Guidoni, tango performances, choir and oriental dances, and the "Born to Read" event curated by the Abate Alano Municipal Library.
Throughout the event: floral exhibitors, food stands and farms, artists and artisans at work along the village alleys.
