Multidisciplinary festival of art, music, dance, and contemporary culture in Messina
Stretto-Art is a multidisciplinary festival that brings two intense days of art, music, dance, and contemporary culture to Messina, in the heart of northeastern Sicily. Organized by the StrettoCrea collective, the event was born with the ambition of becoming a benchmark for emerging creativity in the Strait area, placing young talents from Messina and Sicily at the forefront.
The hallmark of Stretto-Art is the fusion of different artistic languages. The program features a mix of concerts, DJ sets, painting workshops, urban dance and K-pop performances, poetry readings, book and comic presentations, as well as wellness moments like yoga and Pilates sessions. Exhibitions, live performances, and participatory activities blend into a unique experience, designed to foster encounters between creators, the public, and local cultural entities.
The first edition took place in 2024 at the Palacultura Antonello in Messina, featuring notable guests such as rapper Murubutu and architect Francesco Ferla. Starting with the new edition, the festival has chosen the Giardino Corallo as its setting, an open-air, accessible space that strengthens the immersive and participatory dimension of the event in dialogue with the city.
Stretto-Art provides a space for illustrators, musicians, performers, comic artists, and dancers primarily from the province of Messina and Sicily, with collaborations involving entities like MessinaCon and other local associations. The festival thus serves as a platform for independent culture and self-production, enhancing the creative energy of a city overlooking the Strait.
The festival is held in Messina, the provincial capital of the Sicily Region, a city overlooking the Strait of the same name, facing Calabria. Stretto-Art helps enrich the municipality's summer cultural offerings, engaging a young and curious audience and becoming part of a calendar of events that makes contemporary creativity a defining element of the territory.
The 2026 edition of Stretto-Art, the second of the event, was held on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, at the Giardino Corallo in Messina, with a more dynamic and immersive format compared to the 2024 debut. The official poster was signed by NessunNettuno.
Saturday, June 20 opened its gates at 4:00 PM with a painting workshop by Nuance, followed by performances by Mario Sturniolo and Jeff Sisti, the pop-rock concert by VICK, and a DJ set by MORG.
Sunday, June 21, opened at 10:00 AM with a Pilates session, followed by soft clubbing with Turkistan and a yoga lesson with Adriana Di Giorgio. In the afternoon, a poetry reading by the Immaginazione Balistica collective, performances by rapper Skilla and dance groups Solar Eclipse (K-pop) and Medusa Waackers (urban/waacking), the book presentation by comic artist Lelio Bonaccorso, and performances by Ciccio Papalia, Fabrizio Marcellino, and Tommaso Malatesta, with a closing DJ set by Ryko.
The Giardino Corallo is located in Messina and can be reached by car, train (Messina Centrale station), and by ship/ferry from Reggio Calabria and Villa San Giovanni. From Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, Messina is connected via the A18 motorway.
Daily admission €10, two-day pass €15. Tickets are available on-site or in advance via postoriservato.it.
The event takes place outdoors: comfortable clothing is recommended, especially for participating in the morning yoga and Pilates sessions.
