The Solero road race, blending asphalt and dirt tracks in the heart of the Alessandria Monferrato
StraSolero is the flagship running event of Solero, a village in the Alessandria plains of Piedmont, just a few kilometers from the provincial capital. It is a staple of the local road-running tradition: an accessible race on a fast, flat course that gathers local running clubs and walkers of all ages every year.
The route measures 6.8 km and is known for being flat and free of major elevation changes. Its distinctive feature is a 500-meter dirt section that adds character to an otherwise paved course, offering a rustic touch typical of the Alessandria Monferrato countryside. The start and finish lines are located at the Asilo Carlo Guasco, on Via Montebello, in the town center.
StraSolero has a dual nature. On one hand, it is a competitive race recognized by FIDAL, part of the Alessandria provincial calendar, reserved for registered athletes and divided into standard male and female categories (from youth to masters). On the other, it keeps its roots as a non-competitive fun run open to families, youths, and enthusiasts who simply want to run or walk together. This blend of competitive spirit and village festival is what makes the event so special.
The race is organized by the Soletrekking association, with the technical support of Atletica Alessandria, one of the leading athletics clubs in the province. The bond with the local area is strong: StraSolero involves local running clubs, from Atletica Novese to Bio Correndo AVIS, and stands as one of the most cherished sporting and social moments for the Solero community.
Although it has only been a competitive race for a few years, StraSolero boasts a long history as a non-competitive event: including all previous fun runs, it has surpassed its twenty-sixth edition. This continuity is a testament to the event's deep roots in the Piedmontese spring running calendar.

La gara, valida per il campionato provinciale FIDAL di Alessandria, si è disputata sul tracciato pianeggiante di 6,8 km con il consueto tratto di sterrato finale.
