Street food, live music, and Ciociaria flavours in Piazza Elena, Strangolagalli
StranGusto – Street Food Festival is the summer highlight that brings Strangolagalli, a small town in the Frosinone province of Southern Lazio, to life. Launched in 2022 by the local Pro Loco, the event has grown year after year to become one of the most anticipated dates in the Ciociaria summer calendar. For two consecutive evenings, Piazza Elena and the surrounding streets fill with enticing aromas, music, and long communal tables, creating a vibrant open-air dining experience.
The heart of the festival lies in its food stalls and trucks, which serve freshly prepared specialities. The menu across various editions has ranged from Italian street food classics to international influences:
The selection celebrates local products and street food culture, with a special focus on the gastronomic traditions of the Ciociaria region.
StranGusto is about more than just food: every evening, the stage in Piazza Elena hosts concerts, cover bands, and DJ sets that keep the crowd dancing until late. Past editions have featured tributes to iconic Italian music stars and high-energy DJ sets, while inflatables and entertainment ensure the festival is perfect for families and children.
Alongside the food and music, the event has also hosted an open-air painting competition in memory of Franco Tomassi. Artists and enthusiasts paint en plein air throughout the village streets, adding a cultural dimension to the festival and capturing the picturesque corners of Strangolagalli on canvas.
Strangolagalli is a hilltop village of just over two thousand residents overlooking the Liri Valley, in the heart of Ciociaria. Attending StranGusto is the perfect excuse to explore the historic centre, enjoy the sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, and experience the genuine hospitality of the Frosinone area, a region rich in festivals and folk traditions that animate the province every summer.
The festival is managed by the Pro Loco Strangolagalli, with the support of local volunteers and businesses. Entry is free, and food and drinks are purchased directly from the stalls—a simple, convivial formula that has ensured the success of the event, which reaches its fifth edition in 2026.
On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July 2026, Piazza Elena will once again transform into a large open-air gourmet hub for the fifth edition of StranGusto, the street food festival of Strangolagalli, in the province of Frosinone. Organised by the Pro Loco, the festival celebrates the tradition of Italian and international street food, accompanied by live music and entertainment.
At the stalls and food trucks in the square, visitors can enjoy freshly prepared specialities: charcoal-grilled arrosticini, warm porchetta, sweet crêpes, and other pastries and street food options, alongside a selection of craft beers. Entry is free, and the festival is family-friendly.
The festival takes place in Piazza Elena and along Via Roma in the centre of Strangolagalli (FR), typically over a weekend between late July and early August, from 7:00 PM until late.
By car: Take the A1 Rome-Naples motorway, exit at Frosinone or Ceprano, then follow provincial roads towards Strangolagalli. By train: The most convenient stations are on the Rome-Cassino line (Frosinone or Ceprano-Falvaterra), from where you can continue by car or taxi.
Free entry; food and drinks are paid for at the stalls. We recommend arriving early to find parking near the centre, especially on Saturday nights.
