About Strada Chiusa

Strada Chiusa is an urban culture and hip-hop festival that transforms Via Monteschiavo in Acquaviva delle Fonti, near Bari, into a massive, free-entry block party every year. Organized by the L'Onda Cultural Association with over a hundred volunteers, it brings together rap music, graffiti writing, breakdancing, freestyle contests, skateboarding, and 3x3 basketball, all with a strong commitment to charity and fundraising for cancer research. An entire neighborhood closes to traffic and opens up to creativity.

A neighborhood that closes to the city to open up to culture

Strada Chiusa is much more than just a concert: it is a celebration of urban culture that takes over Via Monteschiavo in Acquaviva delle Fonti, in the province of Bari, in the heart of Puglia, every summer. For one day, a suburban street is literally closed to traffic and returned to the residents as a massive, free-entry block party, where music, sports, art, and solidarity coexist from morning until late at night.

The four pillars of hip-hop and beyond

The festival celebrates the pillars of hip-hop culture: rap and music on the main stage, graffiti writing and murals with crews of artists painting live, breakdancing, and freestyle contests, alongside skateboarding sessions and 3x3 basketball tournaments. Surrounding the performances are workshops for children, a street food area with food trucks and artisanal specialties, and street art exhibitions that leave a permanent mark on the city's walls.

A project born from volunteer work

Behind Strada Chiusa is the L'Onda Cultural Association, a non-profit organization founded in 2014 in Acquaviva delle Fonti and composed of local youth. Each edition is built by over a hundred volunteers and funded partly through crowdfunding campaigns: the association reinvests the proceeds into social and cultural initiatives, with the goal of regenerating urban spaces and giving visibility to local artists. Over the years, the event has surpassed 20,000 attendees, becoming one of the most anticipated appointments in the Apulian urban scene.

Music and social commitment

One of the core spirits of Strada Chiusa is solidarity: part of the funds raised is donated to cancer research, in collaboration with AIRC, in memory of friends lost to the disease. Fun, street culture, and civic engagement thus merge into a single day, capable of attracting a young and passionate audience from all over Puglia and beyond to Acquaviva delle Fonti.

A stage for the international scene

While remaining firmly rooted in the local area, the festival has hosted prominent names from the Italian and international hip-hop scene over the years, alternating overseas headliners, established Italian rappers, and emerging young talents. Today, Strada Chiusa is a benchmark for those who want to experience urban culture in Puglia in an authentic, free, and participatory way.

Strada Chiusa — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Strada Chiusa, the eleventh, returns to Acquaviva delle Fonti on Saturday, July 4, 2026, on Via Monteschiavo, from 10:00 AM until late at night. A full day of hip-hop music, street art, skateboarding, and street food with free entry upon registration via Eventbrite, all under the charitable banner of the L'Onda Association.

For the 2026 edition, Strada Chiusa moves its date to Saturday, July 4, confirming Via Monteschiavo as the beating heart of the event. The block party spans an entire day, from early morning until late at night, with a program that weaves together music, visual arts, urban sports, and street gastronomy. Admission remains free, with mandatory online registration. Among the announced novelties is the intervention of the Turin-based crew Truly Design, who will create a permanent mural on the facade of the local school: a mark destined to remain long after the festival ends.
