A brand new convention for playing with History
In the heart of the EUR district in Rome, StoriCon was born in 2026: the first Italian event entirely dedicated to historical gaming in all its forms. The underlying idea is both simple and ambitious, summarized by the slogan of the first edition, «Historical gaming like you've never seen it before!»: bringing wargamers, miniature enthusiasts, role-players, and gamebook readers into the same space, allowing communities that rarely interact to discover one another.
Where: La Vaccheria in EUR
The convention is held at the La Vaccheria Exhibition Space, on Via Giovanni l'Eltore, in the EUR district and the Municipio IX territory of Rome. It is a cultural venue owned by the Municipality of Rome, a choice that immediately places StoriCon within a context of education rather than mere entertainment. It is no coincidence that the first edition adopted a unique format: no physical division by «zones» or disciplines, with tables mixed together to encourage spontaneous encounters between those playing a hex-map wargame and those moving miniatures or role-playing a character.
Who organizes it
StoriCon is promoted by the LudoStoria APS association, chaired by Riccardo Masini, with the coordination of numerous Italian analog gaming entities. The event enjoys the patronage of institutions that highlight its cultural value: the CeRG – Research Center on Gaming at the University of Genoa, the AIPH – Italian Association of Public History, and Federludo, in addition to the support of the Municipality of Rome's Municipio IX.
What you will find
The event program revolves around dozens of active tables, featuring tournaments, demonstration matches, free-play and reservation-based sessions, thematic conferences, and meetings with authors and publishers. The forms of gaming represented range from wargames with classic hex maps to role-playing games, from miniatures to gamebooks, as well as recent historical board games and titles that have become classics. A festival designed to explore the great events and processes of History by transforming them into a playful experience, strictly screen-free.

The setting of La Vaccheria and the vitality of the Roman gaming community do the rest, in a February weekend that has established itself from its debut as one of the most interesting novelties among Rome's cultural events.
StoriCon — edition 2026
The debut of StoriCon took place on February 21 and 22, 2026, in the spaces of La Vaccheria, in Rome's EUR district (Municipio IX). With over 45 tables and the participation of more than twenty entities including associations, publishers, authors, and gaming groups, the first edition saw a high turnout, with hundreds of rotating visitors. The format, without division by zones, allowed wargamers, role-players, miniature enthusiasts, and gamebook readers to meet and play side-by-side. An opening that convinced both the public and the organizers, leading to the immediate announcement of the second edition, StoriCon 2027.
Programme StoriCon 2026
Saturday, February 21
- Opening of tables and free play, closing in the evening (around 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM).
- 2:30 PM — Preliminaries of the Napoleonic Tournament, featuring the games Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars by Paolo Mori and Merde! Dalla Guerra Peninsulare a Waterloo by Sergio Fabra.
- Demonstration matches of hex-map wargames, role-playing sessions, miniature and gamebook tables, as well as conferences and meetings with authors.
Sunday, February 22
- Continuation of tables, tournaments, and conferences.
- Finals of the Napoleonic Tournament, with prizes for the top three finishers (a box of Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars for first place).
Featured tables and titles
Over 45 tables active simultaneously, with tournaments, demonstrations, and free play. Among the most followed titles was Falling Sky (COIN series by GMT Games), led by Marco Mengoli, who integrated the rules within the historical narrative of the conquest of Gaul.

The first edition featured over twenty Italian analog gaming entities, including: Aleph Game Studio, Armata Brancaleone, ASL Italia, AurorArt, Boardgame Bazar, Castelli in Gioco, Ergo Ludo Editions, Eryados, GdT Roma Players, Gilda del Drago Nero, La Ludica, La Tavola Rotonda, LudoManiacs, LudoStoria, Miles Gloriosus, Nani Ludici, Nerdi Saldi, Officina Ludica, Oliphante, Para Bellum Magazine, Progetto ILO, Salotto di Giano, Tana degli Orchi, and WBS Games.

How to get there
The EUR district is served by the Metro Line B (EUR Magliana, EUR Palasport, EUR Fermi stations) and several bus lines. By car, it is easily reached from the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA); parking is available nearby. For those arriving from outside Rome, Termini station is connected to EUR via Metro B.
