Astronomical outreach evenings under the Roman summer sky
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Stelle d'Estate at Parco Tevere Magliana is a series of astronomical outreach evenings organized by the AstronomiAmo APS association, under the patronage of Rome's Municipio XI. In the heart of the Magliana district, the park overlooking the Tiber becomes a summer meeting point for stargazing, guided by experts who explain the universe in accessible language, free of complex formulas.
Each event begins after sunset, usually around 9:30 PM, and alternates between thematic storytelling and direct observation. The focus is on the life cycle of starsโfrom their birth in nebulae to planetary nebulae, supernovae, and black holesโas well as galaxies, planets, and the Moon, often linked to major space exploration milestones. Participation is free and designed for a wide audience, from families with children to astronomy enthusiasts.
The festival stems from a desire to promote local scientific culture and turn the park into a place for meeting, learning, and cultural enjoyment. AstronomiAmo APS is active throughout the year in Municipio XI with dedicated astronomy courses on the sky and the Solar System, bringing this same accessible, free, and open-air outreach to the community during the summer.
Parco Tevere Magliana is located in Municipio XI of Rome, along the course of the Tiber in the southwestern part of the city. As part of the Lazio region and the numerous initiatives of the 'Estate Romana' (Roman Summer), the event offers a free cultural alternative to the city's hot evenings, combining a gaze toward the stars with the rediscovery of a local green space.
The 2026 edition of Stelle d'Estate at Parco Tevere Magliana is expected to follow the tradition of evenings proposed by AstronomiAmo APS under the patronage of Municipio XI of Rome. At the moment, the official calendar and the titles of individual evenings have not been published. As in past editions, a series of free evening meetings dedicated to astronomy is expected, featuring educational talks and sky observation, weather permitting. Information will be updated as soon as the program is announced by the organizers.
