Stazzano's masquerade festival, featuring parade floats, a marching band, and the flavors of Lower Piedmont
Every year, when the Carnival season arrives, the small town of Stazzano, in the Province of Alessandria, transforms into a large open-air stage. The Stazzano Carnival is one of the most cherished local festivals: a day entirely dedicated to masks, parade floats, and entertainment, organized with passion by the Pro Loco Stazzano in collaboration with the local municipality.
The heart of the event is the grand parade that winds through the historic town center: the procession starts from Piazza Risorgimento and travels along Via Mazzini and Via Regina Elena, accompanied by floats, masked groups, a marching band, and plenty of entertainment. It is a festival that puts the community at its center: the participants are not professionals, but local associations, families, and young people from the town and neighboring areas, who prepare costumes and displays with great enthusiasm every year.
The Stazzano Carnival is part of the rich calendar of festivals in Lower Piedmont and the Novese District, which sees numerous towns in the area celebrating with parades and masks every winter. In Stazzano, the festival retains a genuinely local and family-friendly character, featuring traditional games like the 'pentolaccia', inflatables for children, and moments of conviviality around the food stalls.
As per tradition, the Stazzano Carnival is also an opportunity to enjoy typical local cuisine. The Pro Loco food stalls offer polenta with gorgonzola, French fries, the essential Carnival fritters, and a bar service, in a festive atmosphere that combines good food and cheer.
With free admission and free registration for those wishing to participate in costume, the Stazzano Carnival is an event open to all, perfect for spending an afternoon in good company. Between music, dancing, prizes for the most original masks, and the contagious energy of the parade, it is the ideal occasion to discover the hospitality of this corner of Piedmont and experience Carnival in an authentic, small-town setting.

At 3:00 PM, the colorful parade began through the town streets, featuring floats and masked groups. The event was presented by DJ Claudio Mastromarino, while the rhythm was set by the Arquatese Marching Band. The procession was enhanced by the equestrian group from the 'Le Rondini' riding school in Serravalle Scrivia and the flag-wavers and musicians of the Aleramica Association of Alessandria. Prizes were awarded to the most original and colorful masks, with free entry and contest registration.
In case of bad weather, the event is postponed to Sunday, March 8, 2026.
