Great drama, music, and dance in the historic theatre of Val d'Arda
The Giuseppe Verdi Municipal Theatre is one of the symbolic venues of Fiorenzuola d'Arda, a town in the Province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna. Inaugurated in the mid-nineteenth century, this elegant Italian-style theatre, overlooking Via della Liberazione, has been the cultural reference point for Val d'Arda for over a century and a half. Every year, between October and April, it hosts a theatre season that alternates drama, music, and dance, capable of attracting an audience from all over the province to Fiorenzuola.
The programming, entrusted to the artistic direction and promoted by the Municipality of Fiorenzuola d'Arda, focuses decisively on quality: each season features leading performers from Italian theatre and cinema, drama productions that reinterpret classics, civil monologues, brilliant comedies, and live music evenings. It is a season designed for a provincial theatre that does not renounce ambition, and which for years has managed to bring names usually seen in large venues to a small hall.
The heart of the season is drama, with evening performances usually starting at 8:45 PM. Alongside the theatrical events, the programme always reserves space for music, with a series of subscription and non-subscription concerts, and for dance. The result is a varied calendar that, over six months, accompanies spectators from autumn to spring with a new offering almost every week.
For those living in Fiorenzuola and the surrounding towns of Val d'Arda, the Verdi season is a regular winter event; for those coming from further afield, it is an opportunity to discover a small historic theatre where you can see the stars of the national scene up close.
The 2025/2026 season of the Teatro Verdi in Fiorenzuola d'Arda is dedicated to the theme of rebellion and has Oscar Wilde as its icon. Artistic direction is entrusted for the third year to Mino Manni, with promotion by the Municipality of Fiorenzuola. The programme combines drama with a series of concerts (five subscription and two non-subscription) and opens on October 5, 2025, with the evening A Giuseppe Verdi, gloria d'Italia, dedicated to the composer to whom the theatre is named.
Evening performances begin at 8:45 PM. The sale of season tickets and individual tickets began at the end of September at the theatre's box office in Via della Liberazione 39.
