The Summer Season at the Roman Theatre of Gubbio is one of Umbria's most established cultural events. Every summer, the ancient Roman amphitheatre from the 1st century BC, one of the best-preserved in Italy, comes alive again as a natural setting for theatrical performances, concerts, and classical plays. The theatre's ruins, located just outside the walls of the town of the Ceri, offer a unique backdrop: attending a show here means reliving the original function of the place, built precisely to host audiences.

A programme between classical and contemporary

The programme alternates Greek-Roman theatre, comedies, contemporary prose, concerts, and musical events for all tastes. The review, organised by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Gubbio in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Umbria, brings together about a dozen evenings each year. The season is part of a broader summer programme in Gubbio that also includes events such as the Gubbstock Festival dedicated to emerging bands.
