World-Class Stand Up Paddle in Comacchio

The Spring SUP Race is one of the most important stand up paddle races on the international calendar, held every spring in Comacchio, the pearl of the Po Delta in the province of Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Delta SUP association with the support of Po Delta Tourism, the event is valid as a stop on the International Canoe Federation (ICF) world ranking and is a selection race for the Italian FICK circuit (Italian Canoe Kayak Federation).

Recognized by the ICF as a high-profile event on the world circuit, the Spring SUP Race effectively kicks off the international SUP race season, bringing dozens of paddlers from many different countries to the waters of Comacchio, including reigning world and European champions.

Two Unique Scenarios: Historic Canals and Nazioni Lake

What makes the Spring SUP Race truly special is the combination of two extraordinary settings. On one hand, the canals of the historic center of Comacchio, where athletes speed under the monumental Trepponti, the symbolic bridge of the lagoon city. On the other, the open waters of Nazioni Lake, in Lido delle Nazioni, the venue for speed and long-distance races.

Paddling through the canals of Comacchio, nicknamed the "little Venice" of Ferrara, offers athletes and spectators a view difficult to find elsewhere: an intact fishing village, with bridges, colorful houses, and the atmosphere of the UNESCO World Heritage Po Delta fishing valleys.

Disciplines in Competition

The competitive program covers all modern SUP race disciplines, with different courses and distances:

• Technical Race (800 m) — a technical race with buoys and changes of direction
• Crono Race (400 m) — the time trial through the historic canals
• SUP Foil (100 m) — sprint for boards with hydrofoils
• Inflatable Race (4 km) — reserved for inflatable boards
• MegaSUP Race (4 km) — on giant crew boards
• Fun Race (5 km) — the race open to everyone, including amateurs
• Junior Race (5 km) — for youth categories
• Long Distance (10 km) — the endurance race on Nazioni Lake
