The grand open-air market that heralds the new season in the historic center of Savigliano
As the calendar approaches mid-March, Savigliano prepares for its most anticipated event: the Spring Fair. For one full Sunday, the heart of this town in the Cuneo area dresses up for the occasion, turning into a massive open-air market filled with colors, scents, and a wide variety of goods. It is a deeply rooted local tradition that draws thousands of visitors every year, not only from the Savigliano area but from the entire province of Cuneo and beyond in Piedmont.
The true star of the day is the street market. From early morning, more than 300 stalls are set up along the most picturesque squares and streets of Savigliano: Piazza del Popolo, Via Saluzzo, Corso Roma, Via Danna, Piazza Molineri, and Piazza Santarosa. The range of products is vast and caters to every taste and need: clothing, footwear, local crafts, gardening supplies, home goods, leisure items, and, of course, excellent food and wine specialties from the Piedmont region.
The Spring Fair is more than just a shopping opportunity; it is a delightful walk through the historic center of Savigliano, among porticoes, ancient buildings, and the city's most beautiful squares. The event invites residents and visitors to rediscover the charm of the city center, enjoying the lively atmosphere of a day that already smells of the new season. For the duration of the event, the center is closed to traffic, allowing it to be fully explored on foot.
The fair is organized by the Municipality of Savigliano in collaboration with the Fondazione Ente Manifestazioni and Ascom Savigliano. It is one of the most cherished dates on the city calendar, reflecting the bond between the Savigliano community and its commercial traditions. With this event, Savigliano—a major hub in the Cuneo plains of Piedmont—confirms its vocation as a lively and welcoming city that successfully blends commerce, social life, and the promotion of its historic center.
The Spring Fair traditionally takes place on a Sunday in mid-March, from morning until late afternoon.
