The Contrada del Gallo Spring Festival at Bardella, featuring crafts, vintage motors, and Chianti flavors
The Spring Fair is the event that kicks off the season in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the province of Florence, in the heart of the Florentine Chianti. For an entire day, the Bardella industrial area, along Via Cigliano, transforms into a large open-air festival space: stalls, motors, flowers, the scents of street food, and plenty of activities designed for families. It is one of those local festivals that capture the identity of a territory, where the community gathers and local craftsmanship meets visitors from all over Tuscany.
The event is organized by the Contrada del Gallo, one of the historic districts of the Medieval Carnival of San Casciano, with the patronage of the Pro Loco of San Casciano. The proceeds and energy from the district's activities animate the town's life all year round, and the Spring Fair is one of its most anticipated moments, alongside the Rooster Festival (Sagra del Gallo) held in the summer, also at Bardella.
The program is designed to satisfy all tastes and ages:
San Casciano in Val di Pesa is one of the iconic towns of Chianti, a land of wine, olive oil, and medieval villages just a few kilometers from Florence. Attending the Spring Fair is also an opportunity to discover this corner of Tuscany, its wineries, and its hills, in a day that focuses on conviviality and community building.
The 5th edition of the Spring Fair took place on Sunday, May 24, 2026, bringing the Bardella industrial area, along Via Cigliano, to life for the entire day. Organized by the Contrada del Gallo with the patronage of the Pro Loco of San Casciano, the fair featured over sixty craft stands, a large exhibition of contemporary and vintage cars, motorcycles, and quads, an area dedicated to plants and flowers, and numerous activities for children.
