About Spring Fair

The Spring Fair brings the Bardella industrial area in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the heart of the Florentine Chianti, to life for a full day. Organized by the Contrada del Gallo with the support of the Pro Loco, the event combines a large craft market, an exhibition of vintage and modern cars, motorcycles, and quads, a dedicated plant and flower area, workshops and games for children, and street food and craft beer stands. Free admission for the whole family.

A spring Sunday in the heart of Chianti

The Spring Fair is the event that kicks off the season in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the province of Florence, in the heart of the Florentine Chianti. For an entire day, the Bardella industrial area, along Via Cigliano, transforms into a large open-air festival space: stalls, motors, flowers, the scents of street food, and plenty of activities designed for families. It is one of those local festivals that capture the identity of a territory, where the community gathers and local craftsmanship meets visitors from all over Tuscany.

Who organizes the fair

The event is organized by the Contrada del Gallo, one of the historic districts of the Medieval Carnival of San Casciano, with the patronage of the Pro Loco of San Casciano. The proceeds and energy from the district's activities animate the town's life all year round, and the Spring Fair is one of its most anticipated moments, alongside the Rooster Festival (Sagra del Gallo) held in the summer, also at Bardella.

What to find at the fair

The program is designed to satisfy all tastes and ages:

  • Craft Market: over sixty stands dedicated to handmade creations, art, and local ingenuity.
  • Motors on display: a large exhibition of cars, motorcycles, and quads, both vintage and contemporary, attracting enthusiasts and the curious alike.
  • Plants and flowers: a green area with nurserymen and producers, so you can take a piece of spring home with you.
  • Children's area: creative workshops, games, face painting, equestrian activities, and read-aloud sessions.
  • Gastronomy: street food stands with local specialties and craft beer available all day long.

Among the Chianti hills

San Casciano in Val di Pesa is one of the iconic towns of Chianti, a land of wine, olive oil, and medieval villages just a few kilometers from Florence. Attending the Spring Fair is also an opportunity to discover this corner of Tuscany, its wineries, and its hills, in a day that focuses on conviviality and community building.
