The spring concert of a historic band

The Frühjahrskonzert der Bürgerkapelle Latsch is the musical highlight that brings the CulturForum in Laces/Latsch to life every spring. Located in the heart of the Vinschgau Valley in the province of Bolzano, the event features the Bürgerkapelle Latsch, the town's own band—one of the oldest musical formations in South Tyrol, with roots dating back to 1773.

A tradition spanning over two and a half centuries

The band's origins are tied to a devotional event: in 1772, the Vinschgau Valley was struck by a severe flood, and the miraculous image from the bridge chapel had to be saved. The following year, in gratitude, the musicians of Laces accompanied a solemn procession for the first time; this is considered the birth of the local Musikkapelle. In 1906, when Laces was elevated to a market town, the ensemble adopted the name Bürgerkapelle (town band), a title it still holds today.

The evening's program

The spring concert is designed as a true musical journey: alongside the classic band repertoire, the program features marches, symphonic pieces, film scores, and well-known melodies, often with excursions into international and exotic sounds. The performance is led by the Kapellmeister (bandmaster), while the association is managed by its Obfrau. The result is an evening that blends the solemnity of the South Tyrolean band tradition with the pleasure of music accessible to everyone.

The CulturForum in Laces

The concert is held at the CulturForum, the modern cultural center of Laces. This multi-purpose venue hosts concerts, performances, and community events. Its excellent acoustics and capacity make it the ideal setting for a band concert, which is highly anticipated by residents of the municipality and the surrounding Vinschgau Valley villages.

In South Tyrol, town bands (Bürgerkapellen and Musikkapellen) are a fundamental element of local identity, accompanying religious festivals, civic anniversaries, and community gatherings.
