About Spring at the Musical Stables

Primavera alle Scuderie Musicali is the festival that, starting in spring 2026, enlivens the Stables of Villa Pallavicino in Busseto, in the heart of Giuseppe Verdi's land. Curated by the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, resident in the space inaugurated in November 2025, the festival combines classical music concerts, immersive rehearsals, tango, choral voices, and family shows, culminating in the European Music Day. A refined and accessible program, with affordable tickets, making Busseto a small but vibrant cultural hub in Emilia-Romagna.

A Spring of Music in the Land of Verdi

Primavera alle Scuderie Musicali is the festival that, from spring 2026, brings concerts and performances to the Scuderie di Villa Pallavicino, in Busseto, in the province of Parma. The chosen subtitle, "Where ideas take sound," well describes the spirit of the project: transforming the ancient, renovated stables into a living laboratory of music, training, and creativity. The festival originates in the Municipality of Busseto, the birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi, and naturally fits into the strong musical vocation of this corner of Emilia-Romagna.

The Musical Stables

The Scuderie di Villa Pallavicino have been recovered and returned to the city as a space dedicated to artistic workshops, musical training, and contemporary creativity. Inaugurated on November 29, 2025, thanks to the Municipality of Busseto and the contribution of the Fondazione Cariparma, they host the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana and the Doremusic association in residence, who together curate the programming. It is here, at via Provesi 41, that the spring season comes to life.

The 2026 Program

The 2026 spring program runs from April to June with events of various genres:

  • April 18, 5:30 PM - Verdian Wind Septet with soloists from the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana
  • April 23, 3:00 PM - Immersive rehearsals of "Sleeping Beauty," orchestra conducted by Maestro Marco Dallara
  • May 9, 8:45 PM - "Histoire du Tango" with Andrea Coruzzi on bandoneon, Cesare Carretta on violin, and Nicola Ziliani on double bass
  • June 17, 4:00 PM - "In-Canto," concert by the Coro della Residenza Pallavicino conducted by Marisa Intravaia
  • June 20, 8:45 PM - "Gian Burrasca," a music and theater performance based on Vamba's text with music by Nino Rota, featuring Camilla Berardi, Marco Saccomandi, and the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana
  • June 21 - European Music Day, with the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana and Doremusic

Atmosphere and Audience

The festival alternates moments of classical listening, open rehearsals that reveal the orchestra's work, incursions into tango, and musical theater for families. Immersive rehearsals allow the audience to enter the orchestra's creative process, while shows like "Gian Burrasca" also appeal to younger audiences. With affordable tickets and several free admission events, Primavera alle Scuderie Musicali aims for a broad, intergenerational audience.

Busseto and its Territory

Visiting Busseto means immersing yourself in the world of Verdi: his birthplace in Roncole, the Verdi Theater, the Renata Tebaldi Museum, and the villages of the Bassa Parmense. The spring festival is an excellent opportunity to discover this part of Emilia-Romagna, combining live music, historical heritage, and the gastronomic hospitality of the Parma region.
