Cycling on the Old Railway
SpoletoNorcia in MTB is one of Umbria's most beloved cycle tourism events. Its heart is the route of the former Spoleto-Norcia railway, inaugurated in 1926 and now transformed into a charming slow tourism path that crosses tunnels, viaducts, and the Apennine landscapes, between Spoleto and Norcia, in the province of Perugia.
Routes for Everyone
The start is set at Piazza Garibaldi, in the center of Spoleto. The event offers various routes calibrated for every level: from the Family route, suitable for those cycling with children, to the Classic and Easy routes along the most scenic sections of the former railway, up to the Hard route for the most trained bikers. All routes are also suitable for e-bikes.
More Than Just a Race
SpoletoNorcia in MTB is not just about sport: the program includes talks, cultural meetings, guided tours, and events dedicated to the territory, the cycling economy, and cycle tourism. The event is often combined with the SN Trail Run, a running race that shares the same setting. A weekend that combines sport, culture, and the promotion of slow travel, organized by the Municipality of Spoleto with the Italian Cycling Federation and local entities.

The Centenary Edition
SpoletoNorcia in MTB 2026 takes place from May 30 to June 2, marking the centenary of the former Spoleto-Norcia railway (1926-2026), now a slow tourism itinerary. Four days of sport, culture, talks, and special guests, with the bike ride starting from Piazza Garibaldi on June 2.
The event is paired with the SN Trail Run on May 31 and features routes for all levels along the historic track. The program alternates competitions, guided tours, cultural talks on cycle tourism and slow travel, family activities, and charity initiatives.

How to Get There
Spoleto is on the Rome-Ancona railway line; from the station, the center is reachable on foot or via the mechanized paths. By car: take the Spoleto exit from the SS3 Flaminia. The start is in Piazza Garibaldi.

Online registration on the official website laspoletonorciainmtb.it. Routes are also suitable for e-bikes; a specific medical certificate is required for competitive routes.
