The free summer festival in the Torre Spaccata neighborhood of Rome
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Sotto le stelle di Torre Spaccata is a widespread cultural festival that fills the Torre Spaccata neighborhood—located in the eastern outskirts of Rome between Via Casilina and Via Prenestina, within the Municipality VII—with music, theater, and spoken word throughout the summer months. Launched in 2024 and reaching its second edition in 2025, the event is designed to bring people back into public spaces and mend the neighborhood's social fabric: it is not just a simple calendar of events, but a community project that moves "from places to people."
The calendar alternates between different genres and styles, all offered free of charge: live concerts, theater and comedy shows, readings and storytelling, choirs, Roman dialect poetry evenings, and events dedicated to the music and folk dances of Southern Italy, with tarantellas and traditional dances open to the public. There are also workshops and activities for younger audiences, in a program built for everyone from 0 to 99 years old.
The events are spread across various spaces in the neighborhood to involve the entire community: Parco Mancini, Parco della Torraccia with the Torre di San Giovanni, the Torre Spaccata Market, Parco dei Romanisti, the "La Torraccia" Club, and the Parish of San Bonaventura da Bagnoregio. Parks, markets, and squares become open-air stages for summer evenings.
The festival is promoted by the Torre Spaccata Neighborhood Committee together with local associations, including È tutta scena APS, the Piccoli Cantori di Torre Spaccata, the Il Teatro del Lunedì company, and other local cultural entities, with the support of the Fondazione Italiana Charlemagne as part of the Periferiacapitale program and under the patronage of the Municipality VII of Rome Capital.
In the landscape of the Roman summer, Sotto le stelle di Torre Spaccata represents one of the most genuine experiences of neighborhood culture: a grassroots event that, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital and the Lazio region, chooses the suburbs as a place for gathering, enhancing green spaces and the local associative energy. It is an opportunity for residents and curious visitors alike to discover a less touristy and more authentic side of Rome.
The 2026 edition of Sotto le stelle di Torre Spaccata has not yet been announced with an official program. Following the trend of previous editions, the festival is expected to return during the summer months with free evenings of music, theater, and widespread culture in the Torre Spaccata neighborhood of Rome. Information regarding dates, locations, and events will be updated as soon as the Neighborhood Committee and the organizing associations make the calendar public.
