The Music Festival in the heart of Tuscia

Every June 21st, coinciding with the summer solstice, Soriano nel Cimino joins the Music Festival (Festa della Musica), the major event born in France in 1982 and now spread across hundreds of Italian cities under the coordination of the AIPFM and the Ministry of Culture. In this village perched on the slopes of the Cimini Mountains, in the province of Viterbo, the day becomes a widespread celebration: free concerts traverse the historic center and culminate in the main square, with the town band acting as the host.

The format of the Soriano Music Festival highlights the most evocative spots in the town. Afternoon performances take place at Palazzo Catalani and Parco delle Paperelle, while the evening is centered in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, the village's living room dominated by the silhouette of the Orsini Castle. Strolling from one stage to another, you discover the historic fabric of Soriano nel Cimino, among medieval alleys, fountains, and glimpses of the Cimini beech forest, a UNESCO heritage site at the gates of the town.

The program: bands, jazz, and blues

The lineup changes from year to year but maintains a recognizable signature: the coexistence of band tradition and modern sounds. Recent editions have featured saxophone quartets, brass ensembles, blues bands, and the grand evening concert by the town band; in 2026, the square hosted a gathering of Tuscia bands under the national theme «The Voice of Places». It is a program designed for everyone: families, ensemble music enthusiasts, and passing visitors.

The soul of the event is the Banda Musicale di Soriano nel Cimino APS, a historic local group that manages the event's organization and performs its most anticipated moment, the concert in the square. A community of musicians and volunteers revolves around the band, making the Music Festival an opportunity for intergenerational connection, where young students play alongside veterans.

The Music Festival is part of a rich local calendar, which culminates in autumn with the famous Chestnut Festival.
