The Solemn Celebrations in honor of Saint Rita of Cascia represent one of the most heartfelt events of the spring calendar in Acquaviva Picena, a small municipality in the province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region. For three days, usually held on the last weekend of May around the saint's liturgical feast day (May 22nd), the village comes alive with religious celebrations, concerts, exhibitions, and convivial moments that involve the entire community and visitors from the surrounding areas.

Saint Rita, the Saint of Impossible Causes

Saint Rita of Cascia is one of the most beloved figures in Italian popular devotion, particularly in central Italy, venerated as the "saint of impossible causes" and desperate cases. Her feast day is traditionally linked to the blessing of roses, a symbol of the miracle associated with her. In Acquaviva Picena, it becomes an opportunity to rediscover the connection between faith, landscape, and the identity of a village that retains its medieval charm intact.

The Program: Between Sacred and Secular

The religious heart of the event is the Holy Mass in the Church of San Lorenzo, followed by the procession in honor of Saint Rita through the streets of the historic center and the traditional blessing of cars. Alongside the liturgical celebrations, the civic program offers:

• Live concerts in Piazza della Libertà, featuring tribute bands and local musical groups;
• Evening street food at the Belvedere, with food stalls and typical products from the Piceno area;

The festival is organized by the San Lorenzo Association together with the Discalced Augustinian Fathers and the Acquaviva 1 Scout Group, with the support of the Municipality of Acquaviva Picena.
