Festival of theatre and performance in Potenza
Snip Snap Snout is the festival of contemporary theatre, performance, and participatory arts that Gommalacca Teatro brings to Potenza. More than just a series of shows, it's an experience that invites the audience to move, listen, and participate, transforming spectators into active protagonists of the narrative.
The festival works with the languages of experimental theatre, intertwining performing arts, music, photo-video installations, and workshops. The venues are not just traditional theatres: the festival also inhabits urban spaces, unconventional locations, and city routes, redesigning Potenza's cultural map.
Each edition revolves around a theme that acts as a compass for the programming. The 2026 edition is dedicated to "(Eco)distant Narratives" and poses a fundamental question: are we still capable of truly seeing each other? An inquiry that spans ecology, relationships, and communities.
Among the venues involved are the CeSAM - Centro Sperimentale delle Arti Mediterranee, Il Piccolo Teatro, as well as urban and itinerant spaces, schools, and unusual locations. The festival combines free and paid events, with some activities reserved for students.
Curated by Gommalacca Teatro together with local partners, Snip Snap Snout is one of the most original events on the cultural scene of the Lucanian capital. For those seeking an experience different from conventional theatre, it's an opportunity to experience Potenza and the Province of Potenza from an unexpected and participatory perspective.
The Snip Snap Snout Festival 2026 takes place in Potenza from May 18 to 24, preceded by a preview on May 16 at 4:30 PM. The theme of the edition, "(Eco)distant Narratives", spans ecology, memory, and relationships, posing the question: are we still capable of truly seeing each other?
The programme combines theatre shows, performances, musical moments, photo-video installations, and participatory workshops, spread across CeSAM, Il Piccolo Teatro, and various urban and itinerant spaces in the city.
The detailed programme with titles, times, and venues will be distributed by the organisers in the weeks preceding the event.
