Music, poetry, and civic commitment in the land of Ignazio Silone
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Silonian Arts Festival was created to celebrate the memory of Ignazio Silone, one of the most significant Italian writers of the 20th century, who was born in Pescina, a small town in the province of L'Aquila tucked away in the Fucino basin, in the Abruzzo region. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Pescina, combines great Italian popular music with a deep cultural vocation, in line with the spirit of civic commitment that defined the work of the author of Fontamara.
The beating heart of the festival is the scenic Piazza Duomo, which transforms into an open-air stage during the late August evenings. The stage hosts prominent artists from the national music scene: singer-songwriters, legendary bands, and popular faces of Italian music, capable of drawing large crowds from the Marsica area and the entire Abruzzo region. Admission to the shows is generally free, reflecting the desire to make culture accessible to everyone.
The festival is more than just music. The event works in close synergy with the International Ignazio Silone Prize, an award given to individuals who have distinguished themselves in the fields of culture, social commitment, and the defense of civil values. This blend of popular entertainment and literary reflection makes the Silonian Festival a defining event for the Pescina community, deeply rooted in the history and landscape of the Fucino basin.
Included in the rich Pescina Summer calendar, which brings the town to life from July to September with music, culture, sports, and traditions, the Silonian Arts Festival has established itself in just a few editions as one of the most anticipated events of the Marsican summer, successfully combining regional promotion, local identity, and great entertainment.
The Silonian Arts Festival returns to Pescina in the summer of 2026, as part of the official Pescina Summer 2026 program presented by the Municipality. The festival is scheduled for August in Piazza Duomo, alongside the International Ignazio Silone Prize and other cultural events of the month.
At the moment, the precise dates and the artistic program for the 2026 edition have not yet been made official. Information regarding the line-up, times, and any ticket requirements will be communicated by the municipal administration closer to the events. This page will be updated as soon as the final calendar is made public.
