Three days of debate on information within the Contrada Museums
In the heart of the historic center of Siena, the capital of the province of the same name in Tuscany, the Siena Journalism Festival has become, in just a few years, a landmark for those who live and love the world of information. Organized by the Gruppo Stampa Autonomo Siena together with the Order of Journalists of Tuscany and the Foundation of the Order of Journalists of Tuscany, in collaboration with the Magistrato delle Contrade, the festival combines professional training with public debate, open to all.
What makes this festival truly unique is the choice of venues: the panels and courses take place in the historic and evocative Contrada Museums, the museum spaces that safeguard the memory of the Palio and the Sienese identity. Chapter halls, oratories, and contrada museums host journalists, scholars, and citizens, creating a precious dialogue between current information and the deep-rooted traditions of Siena.
Each edition focuses on the most current challenges of the profession: from artificial intelligence applied to the daily work of journalists to the fight against fake news, as well as cultural, economic, and financial journalism, online defamation, and the rights of those who work in information. The panels offer deontological training credits valid for professional development, attracting hundreds of participants from all over Tuscany and beyond each year.
Among the protagonists of the various editions are well-known names from television journalism and the national press, alongside university professors and industry experts. The festival also presents its own Journalism Festival Award, a recognition conferred upon prominent figures in the Italian media landscape within the setting of the Sala degli Specchi of the Accademia dei Rozzi.
More than just a professional conference, the Siena Journalism Festival is an opportunity for civil debate on information, open free of charge to students, enthusiasts, and the curious. For those visiting Siena during the event, it is also an opportunity to discover places normally less frequented by tourism, such as the Contrada museums, and to experience the city from a different perspective.
The fifth edition of the Siena Journalism Festival confirmed the successful formula of the event, organized over three days of debate in the spaces of the Contrada Museums. The central theme of 2026 was the relationship between artificial intelligence, fake news, and the future of information. The review offered numerous deontological training credits valid for the 2026-2028 three-year period, recording strong participation from journalists enrolled in the courses.
The event was organized by the Gruppo Stampa Autonomo Siena with the Order of Journalists of Tuscany, the ODG Toscana Foundation, and the Magistrato delle Contrade.
The meeting venues were the Contrada Museums, including the Museum of the Nobil Contrada del Bruco, as well as the Accademia dei Rozzi.
Opening at the Nobil Contrada del Bruco, key panels on artificial intelligence applied to journalism, and presentation of the Festival Award in the Sala degli Specchi of the Accademia dei Rozzi.
Siena can be reached by car via the Florence-Siena highway; the historic center has restricted traffic, so it is advisable to use peripheral paid parking lots and escalators. By train, the Siena station is connected to Florence and Empoli, with urban buses to the center. The nearest airport is Florence-Peretola.
Admission to the panels is free while seats last. Journalists wishing to obtain deontological training credits must register via the official platform www.formazionegiornalisti.it.
Events take place in the Contrada Museums of Siena and at the Accademia dei Rozzi. The full program and venue information are published on the website www.gruppostampasiena.it.
