Orchestral jazz takes over Catania
The Sicilia Jazz Festival is one of the most significant musical events in Southern Italy and the only one in the country entirely built around orchestral jazz production. The beating heart of the festival is the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana, the big band of the The Brass Group Foundation, which collaborates with world-renowned artists every summer. Born in Palermo, the festival has grown into a traveling event, visiting some of the island's most evocative locations: in 2026, the program also stops in Catania, within the monumental setting of Villa Bellini.
Three nights at Villa Bellini
The Catania program features three exceptional events bringing some of the most acclaimed names in international music to the stage of the historic garden, always accompanied by the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana:
- Tosca feat. Stefano Di Battista - an encounter between one of the most intense voices in Italian song and the celebrated jazz saxophonist;
- Francesco Renga feat. Fabrizio Bosso - a musical dialogue between the singer's pop-rock style and the sounds of the jazz trumpet;
- Kurt Elling - a two-time Grammy Award winner and considered one of the greatest voices in contemporary jazz.
Villa Bellini, the city's green living room
The concerts are held in one of Catania's iconic landmarks: Villa Bellini, the green lung of the city. Created in the 18th century and later transformed into a public garden, it preserves monumental trees, elegant avenues, fountains, and panoramic terraces that make it a perfect backdrop for live outdoor music during summer nights.
A festival spread across Sicily
The Catania stop is part of a broader program that crosses the island, with events at the Teatro di Verdura in Palermo and the Archaeological Park of Selinunte. Promoted by the Sicilia Region with the artistic consultancy of the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana - The Brass Group Foundation, the Sicilia Jazz Festival now represents a cultural showcase of international significance for Sicily and an opportunity for the City of Catania to host major music stars.
Sicilia Jazz Festival — edition 2026
The sixth edition of the Sicilia Jazz Festival takes place from June 27 to July 12, 2026, with eight productions by the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana in the most fascinating locations on the island. In Catania, the programming is concentrated into three evenings at Villa Bellini, all starting at 9:30 PM.
- July 2 - Tosca feat. Stefano Di Battista;
- July 5 - Francesco Renga feat. Fabrizio Bosso;
- July 8 - Kurt Elling.
