The festival of Shakespearean culture in the city of Romeo and Juliet
No Italian city is as closely linked to William Shakespeare as Verona, the setting for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Building on this connection, Casa Shakespeare created Shakespeare Week, the festival of Shakespearean culture in Italy, capable of uniting performance, training, and research in a single ecosystem.
The festival takes place between the Teatro Satiro OFF and locations in Verona's historic center. The program features theatrical productions in Italian and English, including revivals and new creations, accompanied by itinerant theatre through the city streets, conferences on great Shakespearean themes – love, jealousy, forgiveness – and the S.I.M. interactive museum (Shakespeare Interactive Museum).
2026 is a particularly significant year: it marks the 410th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, and Verona will host the World Shakespeare Congress (scheduled for July), the most important global event for Shakespearean studies. Shakespeare Week is part of this grand cultural framework, confirming the international vocation of the Scaliger city.
From April 19th to 29th, 2026, Shakespeare Week returns for its XI edition. Between the Teatro Satiro OFF and locations in Verona's historic center, the festival offers 12 theatre productions (including revivals and new creations, in Italian and English), international productions, itinerant theatre, conferences, and the S.I.M. interactive museum. The 2026 edition is part of the grand Shakespeare 2026 program, marking the 410th anniversary of the Bard's death and Verona hosting the World Shakespeare Congress.
The 2026 program includes 12 theatre productions, featuring both revivals and new creations, in Italian and English, with two historic Casa Shakespeare festivals hosted: Shakespeare Week XI Edition and Juliet Summer Fest.
