Verona's Shakespearean Fringe
The Verona Shakespeare Fringe is the international, multicultural, and multilingual artistic platform that every July enlivens the symbolic locations of Verona's historic centre with performances inspired by the works of William Shakespeare. Organised by Casa Shakespeare, it brings together companies from different countries in a programme that makes the cross-pollination of cultures and languages its distinctive feature.
An Edition within a Major World Event
2026 is an exceptional year: the Fringe, in its 6th edition, takes place concurrently with the 12th World Shakespeare Congress (20-26 July), the main global event for Shakespearean studies, hosted in Verona for the 50th anniversary of the International Shakespeare Association. The 2026 theme, «Planetary Shakespeares», questions Shakespeare's role in the face of the major questions about the planet's ecological destiny.
Performances from All Over the World
The programme brings companies from every continent to Verona, with Shakespeare productions in many different languages, in dialogue with the city that is the literary birthplace of Romeo and Juliet. For Verona, the Shakespeare Fringe is the most open and international dimension of a year entirely dedicated to the Bard.
Verona Shakespeare Fringe — edition 2026
From July 20th to 25th, 2026, the Verona Shakespeare Fringe returns to the historic centre of Verona with its 6th edition, coinciding with the 12th World Shakespeare Congress (July 20-26). Companies from various countries present Shakespearean productions in multiple languages, under the theme «Planetary Shakespeares».

The Fringe takes place in symbolic locations within Verona's historic centre, during the week of the World Shakespeare Congress, which includes approximately 121 events such as scientific sessions, keynotes, workshops, performances, and concerts.
