A food and wine walking tour through the hills and historic villages of Buggiano
Sgranar per Colli is a food and wine walking event organized by the Selva Social Cooperative in the municipality of Buggiano, in the province of Pistoia, in the heart of the Tuscan Valdinievole. More than just a hike, it is an experience that blends walking, landscape, culture, and fine dining: a 14-kilometer loop that winds through the historic villages of Buggiano Castello, Colle, and Stignano, following forest paths, country lanes, and olive groves that tell centuries of local history.
The heart of the event lies in the eight inn-style stops scattered along the route. At each stage, participants pause to savor a dish from the Tuscan culinary tradition, accompanied by wine, extra virgin olive oil, and local specialties. You walk at your own pace, enjoying a different course at each stop while taking in the hilly panorama that defines this corner of Tuscany, nestled between Pistoia and Lucca.
Along the trail and at the rest areas, walkers are accompanied by live musical entertainment, featuring local artists and bands that bring the day to life. The event places great emphasis on sustainability: biodegradable tableware, no single-use plastics, and an invitation for participants to bring their own reusable water bottles. In recent years, Sgranar per Colli has grown to become part of the broader Bella Vista Social Fest, a three-day festival that combines sports, culture, environment, and social inclusion at the "Ox" Youth Center Park in Borgo a Buggiano.
Born from the commitment of a local social cooperative, Sgranar per Colli is now one of the most anticipated events of the spring-summer season in Buggiano and the entire Valdinievole. It involves associations, schools, local businesses, and informal groups, strengthening the bonds of a community that identifies with its hills and traditions. For those who love walking and discovering authentic Tuscany away from the main tourist circuits, it is the ideal opportunity to experience the landscape of Buggiano one bite at a time.
The 2026 edition celebrated the tenth anniversary of the event, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Selva Social Cooperative. The event was part of the Bella Vista Social Fest, three days (June 5-7) of concerts, talks, podcasts, workshops, and sports activities at the "Ox" Youth Center Park in Borgo a Buggiano.
The walk took place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with staggered departures from Piazza del Grano. The 14 km loop trail passed through the historic villages of Buggiano Castello, Colle, and Stignano, punctuated by eight stops with tastings of traditional Tuscan dishes and live musical entertainment.
