La Sgambada, a Mirandola Tradition

La Sgambada is one of the most beloved and attended events in Mirandola, a city in the Bassa Modenese region, in the province of Modena, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Born in the seventies, this non-competitive fun run has spanned the decades, becoming a true collective ritual of the Mirandola spring: in 2026, it reaches its 52nd edition, confirming a deep-rootedness that few local events can boast.

A Morning of Sport and Socializing for Everyone

The philosophy of La Sgambada is simple and inclusive: it is not a race, but a walk open to everyone, where participation is what matters. The event promotes sport, sociality, and well-being and attracts families, enthusiasts, and citizens of all ages. The meeting and starting point is Piazza Costituente, in the historic center of Mirandola, which for one morning becomes the beating heart of the city.

Four Routes for Every Leg

La Sgambada offers four routes of different lengths, designed to welcome everyone, from the youngest to the most trained runners:

• 1.6 km — the shortest route, ideal for children, the elderly, and those who want a simple walk;
• 2.8 km — an intermediate distance suitable for a family walk;
• 7.1 km — a medium-difficulty route for those accustomed to physical activity;
• 13.6 km — the most challenging route, dedicated to more experienced walkers and runners.

An Event for the City and the Region

In addition to the sporting aspect, La Sgambada represents an important opportunity for the promotion and enhancement of the territory. The event is the result of collaboration between the Associazione Corri per Mirandola, the Municipal Administration of Mirandola, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Mirandola, and Wecare. It also involves schools and citizens, renewing year after year the link between popular sport and the life of the Bassa community, a territory that has rebuilt its social spaces precisely through sport and community.
