About Scrivia Valley Festival

The Scrivia Valley Festival brings open-air theatre to seven municipalities in the province of Alessandria, with a core focus on Nature and the Environment. In Castelnuovo Scrivia, the event takes place in the evocative Courtyard of the Podestarile Castle, where the Coltelleria Einstein Company presents shows designed for families and children. Supported by the Fondazione SociAL, this widespread festival combines entertainment, ecological reflection, and the promotion of the valley's historic villages.

A widespread theatre festival across the Alessandria valleys

The Scrivia Valley Festival is a travelling theatre series that spans seven municipalities in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont: Arquata Scrivia, Castelnuovo Scrivia, Costa Vescovato, Novi Ligure, Sale, Tortona, and Volpedo. Born from the collaboration between the Coltelleria Einstein Company and the Anna Solaro Foundation, the festival's key themes are Nature, the Environment, and Theatre, with the explicit goal of raising awareness within local communities about ecological issues.

Theatre meeting nature

The program weaves together shows, readings, travelling performances, screenings, and meetings with experts, all united by the theme of Mother Earth and the beauty we must protect. This festival takes culture out of traditional theatres, animating historic courtyards, squares, and open spaces in the small towns of the valley. This widespread format allows visitors to discover hidden corners and lesser-known spots in the territory between the Tortona area and the Oltregiogo.

The event in Castelnuovo Scrivia

In Castelnuovo Scrivia, the birthplace of the Renaissance writer Matteo Bandello, the festival's shows take place in the Courtyard of the Podestarile Castle, on Via Solferino. The historic setting of the castle provides a stage for performances suitable for families, with special attention given to children. The Coltelleria Einstein Company, a theatre group active in the Alessandria area for years, produces some of the most anticipated events of the series.

A festival supported by the territory

The Scrivia Valley Festival is supported by the Fondazione SociAL and the participating municipalities, confirming the initiative's deep roots in the social and cultural fabric of the province. The collaboration between theatre groups, local administrations, and foundations makes the festival an example of participatory culture, capable of enhancing the villages of the Scrivia valley and bringing the public closer to live theatre with an environmental focus.
