When Cinema Tells Science
ScienceFOR — Cinema Meets Science is a review born in Milan from the collaboration between Fondazione Umberto Veronesi ETS and Anteo, one of the city's most important cinematic institutions. The core idea is simple and powerful: to use the narrative force of cinema to make scientific research accessible, transforming the cinema hall into a place for civil dialogue and public debate.
Three Pillars: Health, Rights, Environment
The program is structured around three major themes that define our time: health, rights, and the environment. Each screening is not just an end in itself but serves as a starting point for a dialogue with experts, scientists, and communicators, in sessions open to citizens, students, and researchers. The scientific director of the review is the philosopher and evolutionist Telmo Pievani.
The Venue: Anteo Palazzo del Cinema
The review takes place at Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, Milan's historic cinema hub in the Brera-Garibaldi area (Municipality 1). A venue that has for decades combined a passion for auteur cinema with a cultural mission that goes beyond simple screenings, making it ideal for hosting a project centered on thought and knowledge.
A Civic Project
ScienceFOR aims to be an experiment in civic culture: bringing science closer to the general public not through dry data, but through the emotion and identification that only cinema can offer. Supported by Intesa Sanpaolo, the review brings a format to Milan that aspires to become a regular fixture on the city's cultural calendar.
ScienceFOR — edition 2026
The inaugural edition of ScienceFOR opens on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, with a special preview and continues until January 28th at Anteo Palazzo del Cinema. Each screening is accompanied by a meeting with experts and communicators, following the formula that combines cinema, science, and civic culture.
The review, scientifically directed by Telmo Pievani, is promoted by Fondazione Umberto Veronesi ETS and Anteo with the support of Intesa Sanpaolo, and is aimed at citizens, students, and researchers.

Saturday, January 24th — Opening Night
- 7:30 PM — Screening of the film The Last Viking by Anders Thomas Jensen
- Meeting moderated by Telmo Pievani, philosopher and evolutionist, scientific director of the review
January 24-28 — Program
- Screenings of films and documentaries structured around the three thematic pillars: health, rights, environment
- Dialogues and public meetings with scientists, researchers, and communicators after each screening
- Events aimed at citizens, students, and researchers
