A prose season in the heart of Piceno

Scene d'Artista is the theatre festival that animates the Teatro delle Energie in Grottammare, in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, during the winter months. The season is promoted by the Municipality of Grottammare together with AMAT (Marche Association for Theatre Activities), with the contribution of the MiC and the Marche Region and the collaboration of the Profili Artistici Cultural Association. The programme offers a journey that blends literature, current events, music, and classical theatre, with the presence of great performers of the national scene.

The Teatro delle Energie

The shows are held at the Teatro delle Energie, in Via Ischia, a welcoming theatre that has been the main cultural hub of Grottammare for years. The intimate size of the space allows for a direct and intimate relationship between actors and the audience, a quality increasingly rare in large theatres. All events start at 9:00 PM.

The 2026 programme

The third edition, on stage from January 23 to March 24, 2026, has brought together a quartet of protagonists of today's theatre:

• Isabella Ragonese with violinist and composer Rodrigo D'Erasmo in "Gli amori difficili", from the pages of Italo Calvino;
• Elio Germano and Teho Teardo in "La guerra com'è", freely inspired by Gino Strada's book;
• Lella Costa in Aristophanes' "Lysistrata", directed by Serena Sinigaglia;
• Mario Perrotta in "Nel Blu. Avere tra le braccia tanta felicità", a tribute to Domenico Modugno and the Italy of the economic boom.

Literature, music, and civil engagement

The common thread of the festival is theatre's ability to tell the present through great literature and civil reflection. From war seen "from the perspective of those who sew" to the comic and highly topical reinterpretation of the Greek classic on strike as a weapon of peace, up to the nostalgic memory of an Italy that dreamed: each show offers a personal and profound look at the human condition, supported by the talent of top-tier actors and musicians.

Grottammare, a village between sea and hills

Attending Scene d'Artista is also an opportunity to discover Grottammare, an elegant seaside resort on the Riviera delle Palme whose ancient village, perched on the hill, is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. The theatre season is a much-anticipated event in the Municipality's winter cultural calendar, complementing the rich summer programme of events in the Marche town.
