The Cologno Monzese comics festival featuring authors, publishers, and exhibitions
SBAM! Comics in Cologno brings the world of comics in all its forms to Cologno Monzese, in the province of Milan. The venue is the Old Church in Piazza XI Febbraio, a space with a particular charm that hosts stands from publishers, independent creators, and fan associations: about thirty entities animating the two days.
The heart of the festival lies in the meetings with authors and the free workshops: drawing, creative writing, character design, and planning workshops led by industry professionals. Each edition brings top Italian comics guests to Cologno, who share their craft and engage with the public.
The festival expands with collateral exhibitions hosted in the halls of Villa Casati, a true civic cultural institution. Over the years, these have ranged from great popular comic characters to more curious and cross-cutting themes, intertwining comics, cinema, and literature.
SBAM! Comics in Cologno is organized by the Municipality of Cologno Monzese together with the publishing house SBAM! and the Civic Library. Admission is free: an invitation to discover the ninth art among big names and small independent realities.
The 5th Edition of SBAM! Comics in Cologno returns on April 11 and 12, 2026, at the Old Church in Piazza XI Febbraio (Saturday from 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Sunday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM). Approximately thirty publishers, independent creators, and fan associations will be present at the fair. Special guest is illustrator Claudio Villa, cover artist for Dylan Dog and artist for Tex, who will present his new graphic novel. Among the talks, a discussion with screenwriters Andrea Voglino and Diego Cajelli about 1986, a key year for comics. Collateral exhibitions at Villa Casati from April 11 to 19 (4:00 PM - 7:00 PM): 'Diabolik, King of Terror' for the 950 issues of the Astorina series and 'Monster Gallery'. Free admission.
The special guest Claudio Villa (Dylan Dog, Tex), the free drawing and writing workshops, and the two collateral exhibitions at Villa Casati dedicated to Diabolik and monsters.
The festival takes place at the Old Church in Piazza XI Febbraio, in the center of Cologno Monzese (Milan), with collateral exhibitions at Villa Casati, on Via Mazzini. The town is served by Metro Line 2 (green).
Free admission to both the fair and the collateral exhibitions.
