The photographic exhibition that tells the story of Cologno Monzese through the faces of its citizens
Imago Civium is a photographic project created in Cologno Monzese, in the province of Milan, by photographer Marco Rilli as part of a collaboration with the Municipality. The idea is simple and powerful: to tell the identity and collective memory of the city through the portraits of its citizens, at least two hundred, photographed in various locations in the area.
To carry out the project, Rilli set up his photographic studio in various parts of Cologno, photographing anyone who wished to participate. Each citizen involved was asked to provide their first name, last name, origin, and a story of the highlights of their lives: thus, each shot becomes a small fragment of personal history intertwined with that of the community.
The project culminates in a large photographic exhibition hosted in the Sala Crippa of Villa Casati, on Via Mazzini, the cultural heart of the city. Here, the two hundred portraits form a choral visual narrative, centering on citizen participation and the social and cultural richness of Cologno Monzese.
Launched in 2025, the Imago Civium project concludes with the photographic exhibition scheduled for October 2026 in the Sala Crippa of Villa Casati, in Cologno Monzese. On display are the portraits of the approximately two hundred citizens who participated in the project by photographer Marco Rilli, each accompanied by their personal story. The exhibition thus offers a choral visual narrative of the community. The precise dates and times will be announced by the Municipality closer to the opening.
The concluding exhibition of the project is scheduled for October 2026 in the Sala Crippa of Villa Casati.
