The major jazz review at the Carani Theatre in Sassuolo
The Sassuolo Jazz Festival is a musical review that takes place every year, in March, at the Carani Theatre in Sassuolo, in the province of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna. Originally a Sassuolo offshoot of the prestigious Crossroads circuit — the touring jazz review that spans the entire region with dozens of events in over twenty municipalities — the festival has, in just a few editions, secured a stable place in the local cultural calendar.
The strength of the Sassuolo Jazz Festival lies in the quality of its programming: a few evenings, but carefully selected to offer the public the best of the Italian and international jazz scene. Over the years, great artists such as Stefano Bollani, Paolo Fresu, and Enrico Rava, along with world-renowned vocalists, have graced the stage of the Carani Theatre, drawing jazz enthusiasts from all over Emilia-Romagna to Sassuolo.
The festival's home is the Carani Theatre on Via Mazzini, a historic city theatre recently restored and once again the main cultural hub of Sassuolo. Its intimate and elegant atmosphere, with stalls and balconies, provides the ideal setting for jazz concerts where the connection between musicians and the audience is direct and intense.
The review is organized by Jazz Network ETS, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Carani Theatre Foundation, as part of the Crossroads festival which enlivens the region every year from March until summer. This network of collaborations ensures Sassuolo hosts concerts of national and international caliber, which would be difficult for a city of this size to achieve alone.
For the people of Modena and jazz lovers throughout the region, the Sassuolo Jazz Festival represents a precious opportunity to hear some of the most celebrated names in the global jazz scene live, in a hall with carefully curated acoustics.
The 2026 edition of the Sassuolo Jazz Festival took place in March at the Carani Theatre in Sassuolo, within the regional Crossroads festival organized by Jazz Network ETS. The program brought together some of the most celebrated names in international and Italian jazz.
The highlight was the performance by the great American voice Dianne Reeves, accompanied by Brazilian guitarist Romero Lubambo, on Friday, March 13th at 8:45 PM. The review continued with the duo Paolo Fresu & Omar Sosa in the "Food" project (March 19th), trumpeter Enrico Rava with "The Fearless Five" (March 21st), and singer Sarah Jane Morris with the Solis String Quartet in "All You Need Is Love" (March 23rd).
The concerts were held at the Carani Theatre on Via Mazzini, with tickets available for sale through Vivaticket.
