The re-enactment of the Saracen raid between battle and fireworks
The Saracen Landing is the grand historical re-enactment of Laigueglia, a seaside village on the Riviera di Ponente, in the province of Savona. The event re-enacts the assault by Saracen pirates led by the corsair Dragut, who threatened the Ligurian coasts in the 16th century, transforming historical memory into a popular and festive spectacle.
The highlight is the re-enacted battle on the beach and from the central pier: the village inhabitants oppose the invaders in an engaging performance, culminating in a pyromusical show that lights up the sea. A large sailing ship anchored in front of the village often serves as a floating set, an additional attraction for the public.
The Saracen Landing, organized by the Pro Loco Laigueglia, is preceded by days of initiatives – "Waiting for the Landing" – with food stalls, activities for children, and treasure hunts in the town squares. Together with the "White Night of the Saracen," the event is one of the most anticipated appointments of the Laigueglia summer.
The 2026 Saracen Landing takes place in Laigueglia on July 24, with the grand re-enactment of the Saracen assault led by Dragut. The battle is staged from the central pier and on the beach, culminating in the pyromusical show that lights up the sea.
As tradition dictates, the main event is preceded by the "Waiting for the Landing" days, with food stalls and activities for children in the village squares, and is complemented by the White Night of the Saracen. The organization is handled by Pro Loco Laigueglia.
