The only car slalom race in the Lazio region, winding through the chicanes of the Tracciolino climb
The Santopadre City Slalom is a motorsport event that has been bringing the small village of Santopadre, in the province of Frosinone, to life for over twenty years. Now in its 22nd edition in 2026, it stands as the longest-running slalom race in the Frosinone province and the entire Lazio region, as well as the only event of its kind in Central Italy. This distinction has made the first weekend of August a staple for drivers and motorsport enthusiasts from across the country.
The race is part of the national calendar as a valid round of the ACI Sport National Slalom Championship—the fifth stage of the series in 2026—and also awards points for the 3rd Zone Cup. This dual status attracts the best Italian specialists in the discipline: prototypes, single-seaters, and touring cars battle against the clock on a course marked by chicanes, where every touch incurs a penalty and precision is just as vital as engine power.
The stage is set on the spectacular Tracciolino-Santopadre climb: 3,350 meters of uphill asphalt, featuring fifteen chicanes that test both reflexes and line precision. The technical and selective track is considered one of the most fascinating in the national slalom circuit and offers spectators numerous vantage points along the hairpin turns, overlooking the hills of the Ciociaria region.
Surrounding the competition, the Municipality of Santopadre, the Pro Loco, and the Santopadre Racing Team create a festive atmosphere. The week leading up to the race kicks off with an official presentation in the village's public garden, featuring a display of race and vintage cars, live music, and a food festival showcasing the typical flavors of Ciociaria. It is a blend of engines, music, and cuisine that involves the entire village and its visitors.
The overall winner receives the Santopadre City Trophy and a plaque in memory of Tiziana Grimaldi. Awards are also presented to the top ten in the overall standings, the top three in each group and class, and the leaders of the Under 23, Women's, and Team categories. In 2025, victory went to Emanuele Schillace driving a Radical SR4 Suzuki.
Sponsored by the Municipal Administration, the Province of Frosinone, and the Automobile Club Frosinone, the event is organized by ASD Motorsport 2C with the support of the Santopadre Racing Team. For the village of Santopadre, the slalom is much more than a race: it is a showcase that brings the town to the heart of Italian motorsport every summer and introduces visitors to an authentic corner of inland Lazio.
In 2026, the Santopadre City Slalom reaches its 22nd edition, confirming its status as the only car slalom race in Lazio and Central Italy. The event is scheduled for the weekend of August 8-9, 2026, with the race day on Sunday along the 3,350-meter Tracciolino-Santopadre climb.
The dual validity—fifth round of the ACI Sport National Slalom Championship and 3rd Zone Cup—leads the organizers of ASD Motorsport 2C to expect a higher number of entries than the previous year. The overall winner will receive the Santopadre City Trophy and the plaque in memory of Tiziana Grimaldi; prizes will also be awarded to the top ten overall, group and class podiums, Under 23s, women, and teams.
The festive atmosphere begins on Friday, July 31 at 6:00 PM in the village's public garden, with the presentation of the race, a display of race and vintage cars, a musical performance by the band Chez Lina, and a food festival organized with the Pro Loco. Competitor registration closes on Wednesday, August 5, at 12:00 PM.
