The parade that opens the Veronese Carnival
The Santo Stefano di Zimella Carnival is the parade of floats from the hamlet of Santo Stefano, in the municipality of Zimella (province of Verona). It is no ordinary event: for several years now, it has been the first date on the Veronese Carnival calendar, which from January to September brings over sixty events throughout the province, from the lake to the plains to Monte Baldo.
The festival is organised by Pro Loco Zimella with the patronage of the Municipality and is part of the Coordination of Carnival Committees of the province of Verona. The heart of the day is the parade: the floats start from via Marcabella and cross the streets of the centre in procession, arriving in Piazza del Municipio, where the festival continues with music, entertainment, and a prize draw for attendees.
A community event that kicks off the long Veronese carnival season, eagerly awaited every year by families in the Bassa Veronese region.
Santo Stefano Carnival — edition 2026
The Santo Stefano di Zimella Carnival 2026 was held on Sunday, January 11, the first parade on the Veronese Carnival calendar, which this year featured over sixty events from January to September. The parade started from via Marcabella at 2:00 PM and arrived at Piazza del Municipio around 3:30 PM; the day concluded with a prize draw for attendees at 4:00 PM.
