The fair that closes autumn in Canaro
The Santa Sofia Fair is one of the most cherished autumn events in Canaro, a small municipality in the Bassa polesana region of Rovigo province. Organized by the Pro Loco Canaro APS, the event enlivens Piazza Bersaglieri d'Italia for five days with a covered and heated gastronomic stand, designed to welcome visitors even when the air gets crisper.
The Bigoli Festival and the flavors of Polesine
The heart of the fair is traditional Venetian cuisine. The protagonists are bigoli, the long pasta typical of the area: from the Pro Loco's famous duck bigoli to fish versions, up to the Bigoli Festival which offers different preparations each evening. Alongside, the great classics of Polesine: grilled meats, fried fish, fried frogs and eels, cod with polenta, seasonal side dishes, and homemade desserts.
Music, dancing, and conviviality
Every evening the fair comes alive with dancing evenings and shows: orchestras and musical groups animate the dance floor, in full Venetian ballroom style. It's an opportunity to get together with friends and families, in a genuine and popular atmosphere that has marked the end of the beautiful season in Canaro for generations.

The stand opens every evening from 7:30 PM; on the last day, it will also be open at lunchtime. Reservations are accepted for groups of six or more people. For information, you can contact the Pro Loco Canaro.
Santa Sofia Fair — edition 2026
The Santa Sofia Fair 2026 will take place in Canaro (RO) from September 30 to October 4, in Piazza Bersaglieri d'Italia. The covered and heated gastronomic stand opens every evening at 7:30 PM, with an opening also at lunchtime on the last day, Sunday, October 4.
On the menu, the Bigoli Festival (with the unmissable Pro Loco duck bigoli), grilled meat dishes, and fish specialties: bigoli pescatora, mixed fried fish, fried frogs and eels with polenta, cod, side dishes, and desserts. Reservations are accepted for groups of six or more.
