A toast by the sea

The Santa Severa Beer Festival is one of the iconic events of the summer on the Lazio coast. In the days around Ferragosto, the Pyrgi seafront, the promenade lining the beach of this seaside district of Santa Marinella, fills with brewery stands, food trucks, and stages for live music. The atmosphere is that of a typical Italian seaside festival: arrive at sunset, pick a craft beer, dine on street food, and stay until late in the evening amidst concerts and DJ sets, with the sound of the waves as a backdrop.

The setting: Santa Severa and the Pyrgi seafront

Few beer festivals can boast such a setting. Santa Severa is dominated by its medieval castle built on the seashore, one of the most photographed spots in Lazio, which stands on the site of the ancient Etruscan city of Pyrgi, the port of the powerful Caere (modern-day Cerveteri). The seafront that hosts the festival is named after this ancient Etruscan port: drinking a craft beer while watching the sunset over the Tyrrhenian Sea, with the silhouette of the castle on the horizon, is an experience that is worth the trip alone.

Craft beers and street flavors

The heart of the event is, naturally, the craft beer. The 2025 edition featured breweries such as Free Lions and Mostoitaliano, accompanied by a line of food trucks — eight in total — offering gastronomic options for every taste, from burgers to fried specialties and traditional Lazio dishes. There are also guided tastings, designed for those who want to go beyond a simple drink and discover styles, hops, and pairings together with the producers.

Music and evening atmosphere

Every evening of the festival is accompanied by live music and DJ sets, which turn the seafront into an open-air stage. The audience is a diverse mix of summer visitors: families on holiday, groups of friends, craft beer enthusiasts, and Roman vacationers who flock to Santa Severa in the heart of summer.

The 2026 edition

The 2026 edition is officially included in the summer calendar of the Municipality of Santa Marinella, presented at the town hall by Mayor Alessio Manuelli: the Beer Festival is scheduled for August 14, 15, and 16, 2026, starting at 9:00 PM, on the Pyrgi seafront in Santa Severa. The detailed program of breweries and concerts will be announced on the event's social media channels.

The territory: Santa Marinella and the Etruscan Lazio

The festival is also an excellent opportunity to discover this stretch of coast in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio Region. In addition to the Castle of Santa Severa — which hosts museums, exhibitions, and a rich summer program — the UNESCO-listed Etruscan necropolises of Cerveteri and the nearby town of Santa Marinella with its small harbor are well worth a visit. The sea, the Etruscan history, and the coastal gastronomy make this beer festival something more than just a simple summer fair.
