The patronal feast of Mosciano Sant'Angelo, blending faith, music, and tradition in the heart of the Teramo province
The Sant'Alessandro Celebrations are the most anticipated event of the year in Mosciano Sant'Angelo, a town in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo. Every late August, the town honors its patron saint, Sant'Alessandro of Bergamo, a martyr from the early centuries of Christianity whose liturgical feast day falls on August 26. For three days, the historic center is transformed: the main streets and the square are adorned with spectacular illuminations that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, while religious fervor and popular festivities intertwine.
The religious heart of the feast is the solemn procession, during which the venerated relic of the arm of Sant'Alessandro, kept by the local parish, is displayed and carried through the streets. It is a moment of great community participation, preceded by days of novena and Eucharistic celebrations. Devotion to the patron saint is deeply rooted in an ancient tradition, passed down from generation to generation by the community.
Alongside the spiritual dimension, the feast is synonymous with great musical evenings. The main stage is Piazza Aurelio Saliceti, which over the years has hosted concerts by nationally renowned artists and traditional brass band concerts. There is no shortage of family entertainment, recreational activities for children, food stalls featuring local flavors, the tombola draw, and the final fireworks display that lights up the sky over Mosciano.
Part of the rich summer calendar of the Municipality of Mosciano Sant'Angelo, the Sant'Alessandro Feast represents the highlight of the season: an opportunity to rediscover the historic center, experience the community, and savor the hospitality of the Teramo hinterland, just a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast and the Vibrata hills.
For 2026, the Festival Committee offers three days of religious celebrations and entertainment in honor of the patron saint Sant'Alessandro, from August 24 to 26. The main streets and the square of Mosciano Sant'Angelo will be decorated with a luminous scenography. The heart of the secular festivities is the major concert in Piazza Aurelio Saliceti; the religious part culminates with the solemn procession on August 26, the patron saint's day, featuring the display of the relic of the arm of Sant'Alessandro.
The detailed program with final times is published by the Festival Committee and the Municipality in the weeks leading up to the feast.
