About Sanpietrino Carnival

The Sanpietrino Carnival is the big masked party in Abbiategrasso, organized by the Friends of the Palio di San Pietro. Colorful floats parade through the city center starting from Piazza San Pietro, while young and old compete for the Augusto Rosetta Trophy in the mask parade. Amidst confetti, fantasy, and artisanal creativity, it is one of the most beloved events of the Abbiategrasso winter, capable of involving hundreds of costumed participants every year.

The Carnival of the Ticino City

In Abbiategrasso, in the Metropolitan City of Milan, the Sanpietrino Carnival is the festival that colors the heart of winter. Organized by the Associazione Amici del Palio di San Pietro – the same one that manages the famous city palio – it brings floats, masks, and lots of cheer to the streets, in an event that is now a classic of the local calendar.

The Parade and the Augusto Rosetta Trophy

The program revolves around two moments: the parade of floats, which starts from Piazza San Pietro and crosses the city streets, and the Augusto Rosetta Trophy, the historic mask parade named after a beloved community figure. The masks are divided into categories – children, adults, and groups – and compete for the award for the most beautiful, the result of months of artisanal work.

  • Parade of floats from the city center
  • Augusto Rosetta Trophy for the most creative masks
  • Categories dedicated to children, adults, and groups
  • Award ceremony in Piazza San Pietro

Creativity and Community

Every year, floats and masks are inspired by a theme, often related to current events, and become an occasion for messages of peace and fantasy. Behind every float is the patient work of volunteers and families: it is this artisanal and community spirit that makes the Sanpietrino Carnival an authentic event, far from commercial logic and deeply rooted in the identity of Abbiategrasso.
