The July Fair and the patron saint's feast in the heart of Reggiolo
The San Venerio Fair, which the people of Reggiolo simply call "Fiera di luglio", is the most anticipated summer event in Reggiolo, a municipality in the Bassa reggiana area in the province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna. For five days, at the beginning of July, the entire historic center—from the majestic Rocca to the streets and squares of the town—transforms into a large open-air stage, where tradition, gastronomy, and entertainment intertwine in an authentically popular atmosphere.
The fair originates from and is linked to the feast of Reggiolo's patron saint, San Venerio, celebrated on July 7th. This is the spiritual heart of the event: according to tradition, the saint's image is transferred from the oratory of San Venerio to the parish church and then carried in a solemn procession through the town's streets. A deeply felt rite that has united the community of Reggiolo for generations and kicks off the civil and popular celebrations.
The San Venerio Fair is above all a street festival: every evening the center comes alive until late with a tried-and-tested formula that mixes entertainment, flavors, and social interaction. Among the most recurring offerings in various editions:
Organized by the Pro Loco Reggiolo with the support of the Municipality and local associations, the San Venerio Fair is much more than a local festival: it is the moment when Reggiolo celebrates its identity, its roots, and the pleasure of being together. It's also a perfect opportunity for visitors to discover an authentic corner of the Reggiana plain, steeped in history, good food, and warm hospitality.
The San Venerio Fair 2026 will be held in Reggiolo from July 3rd to 7th, as confirmed by the official 2026 event calendar of the Municipality. The highlight remains the feast of the patron saint San Venerio, scheduled for Tuesday, July 7th.
As per tradition, the "July Fair" will liven up the historic center every evening with shows, live music, markets, and evening shopping, Pro Loco food stalls, and attractions for families. Among the related events announced in the municipal calendar are the Notte Shopping (Shopping Night) (Saturday, July 4th) and the Trofeo Comune di Reggiolo, a cycling race organized by the Società Ciclistica Reggiolese (Sunday, July 5th).
The detailed program with times, concerts, and shows will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event. For updates, it is advisable to consult the website of the Municipality of Reggiolo and the Pro Loco's channels.
