The parish feast of Montebonello, with a food stand and traditions of the Frignano
The San Pietro Festival is one of the many traditional feasts that liven up the summer in the municipality of Pavullo nel Frignano, in the province of Modena. It takes place in the hamlet of Montebonello, a small village with a still medieval layout, gathered around the central square and dominated by its massive fortified tower. It is an authentic, small-town festival, far from large events, where the local community comes together around the table and devotion to its patron saint.
Nestled on a hill in the gentle valley of the Cogorno and Rossenna streams, Montebonello preserves a historical heritage of great charm. The medieval tower, built on a rocky outcrop, and the church, with its Romanesque portals and late medieval frescoes, tell centuries of history of the Modenese Apennines. It is in this evocative setting that the festival takes place every year, a moment of celebration that strengthens the bonds of the small community.
The beating heart of the event is the food stand, managed by the Parish Circle of Montebonello, where you can taste traditional dishes and local typical products of the Frignano. The cuisine of the Modenese Apennines is rich and generous: from crescentine to tortelli, from cured meats to local specialties, each dish tells the authenticity of the Modenese mountains.
The San Pietro Festival is part of the rich summer calendar Pavullo'26 — a summer of #continuemozioni, which from June to August offers dozens of feasts, festivals, musical and cultural events throughout the municipal territory. The Montebonello festival represents one of the many moments of conviviality that, evening after evening, accompany residents and visitors in discovering the hamlets and traditions of the Frignano.
A simple and authentic occasion to experience the genuine atmosphere of the Apennine villages, with good food, tradition, and hospitality.
The San Pietro Festival 2026 will be held in Montebonello, a hamlet of Pavullo nel Frignano, on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, opening from 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM. The event, part of the official program Pavullo'26 — a summer of #continuemozioni, offers, as every year, the food stand of the Parish Circle with traditional dishes and local products of the territory. The detailed program for the evenings will be announced by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event.
