The patronal feast of Predazzo, in the Fiemme Valley, on July 25th
The San Giacomo Festival is the patronal feast of Predazzo, a lively village in the Fiemme Valley in the province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. It is celebrated every year on July 25th, the day dedicated to Saint James the Apostle, the community's patron saint. It is a deeply felt occasion that draws residents and tourists vacationing in the Dolomite valleys for a day dedicated to tradition and conviviality.
From 9:00 am, the streets of the historic center of Predazzo transform into a large market: stalls of all kinds, local products, handicrafts, and curiosities animate the heart of the village. Strolling among the exhibitors is the best way to soak up the festive atmosphere of the festival and discover the flavors and crafts of the Trentino mountains.
At noon, the highlight of the conviviality is the alpine lunch at 12:00 pm, an opportunity to enjoy traditional Fiemme dishes in good company. In the afternoon, the festivities continue with entertainment and, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with the live music of the SpritzBand, which accompanies the sunset with rhythm and a great atmosphere. Joy, games, and festive moments mark the entire day.
A special role in the festival belongs to the historic "E. Bernardi" Civic Band of Predazzo, which symbolically kicks off the celebrations with the traditional morning wake-up call through the village streets. The band's music, together with the market and the community lunch, makes the San Giacomo Festival an identity-defining event that renews the bond between Predazzo and its patron saint every year.
Situated at an altitude of about 1000 meters, the Municipality of Predazzo is one of the main locations in the Fiemme Valley, famous for its Geological Museum of the Dolomites, its Ski Jumping Stadium, and its rich calendar of summer events. The San Giacomo Festival is the ideal opportunity to combine a vacation in the Trentino Dolomites with the discovery of an authentic festival, deeply rooted in the life of the village.
